I think my hydro boost is on it's way out with the requisite no steering/no brakes, puddle under the pump scenario. Has anyone replaced their unit with a rebuilt piece ? If so, how'd it work out for ya ? The factory piece is a little salty, but if the remans are crap, I'd rather know now. Or, who does a decent job of rebuilding my core ?

I installed a remanufactured unit on my truck, been there at least a couple of years. No issues. I almost replaced it, as I had a weird brake pedal feel, ended up replacing the master cylinder, and I should not have. Anyway, no issues. I bought it from Vanco, local company, I read about them when I did a forum search then. It was inexpensive I remember. I had an oily residue under the brake pedal inside the cab, not much.
Let us know what happens.

I don't understand how a puddle under the pump has anything to do with the hyda boost unit. On the face of what I'm reading it sounds like a leaking pump or hose and low fluid causing the problems.



If you do indeed need another unit I know you can get them from this place: Welcome to Page Brake I think I got one from their SLC, UT location for an '81 GMC truck years ago and its working fine still. I'm sure there are other sources but this is the one that I just thought of.

I did a search on this forum before posting and the concensus was if the nitrogen canister "burps" a little gas into the system, it would cause the fluid in the resevoir to force it's way past the cap. It seemed to make sense as there was never any spots on the driveway either before or since.
