Does anybody have a way to run an Edge with attitude on a new VP44 and not void the warranty?? I have seen some pump covers sold by a few places but they dont actually say if u buy this $40 pump cover from us and the torx screw set we will guarantee the vp44 pump seller will not void your warranty on your new vp44 pump, I sure wish i had know about this before i was sold 2 new edge units LOL!!!! Oh well, what can I do now guys??? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! I also found out that VP44 rebuilds are not the same and its very hard to find a good source who actually rebuilds there own pumps themselves and installs new computers in the pump, who do you guys use for the best VP44 replacement pumps and did you guys buy a pump cover from them and did they honor the warranty if u did have a pump failure???

I dunno about the edge stuff, but this is where i just ordered my new vp.
Dodge VP44 Bosch Injection Pump Cummins 5. 9L 24 Valve
I called and talked with the sales guy who answered most of my questions, such as they do the rebuilds on site, they install a new computer on each unit, it also comes with a new return valve. Then he put me online with the shop foreman to answer the questions he didn't know the answers for.
They also don't charge a core charge unless you don't send the core back within 30 days, and they pay shipping both ways.

a buddy of mine has a 02 he put his own pump on. you can put it on, it will time itself .
be you own warranty station is all you can do if your going to edge it .

Considering that pump tap boxes are a leading cause of VP44 failures, I don't think you'll find anyone who will guarantee a warranty after you install one.

Consider this - the warranty will be voided if you add a box. If you use a stealth cover, fry the pump, and then try to claim warranty by stating that you didn't install the box, that's fraud. It doesn't make good business sense for a company to either get in the middle of a legal battle between a customer and a pump rebuilder, nor does it make sense to absorb the warranty of a $1,200 pump from the $30 profit that they made in selling you the cover. They'd loose their shirts.

Ya gotta pay to play.

The Edge J/A will work up to level 2 without tapping the VP44 wire. If you want to get more power without tapping the VP44 you could add some bigger injectors. Most aftermarket VP44's only have a one year warranty so waiting is another option.

I am under the impression(i might be wrong) that fuel from the lift pump cools and lubes the vp44. If you add a box does it use more fuel? Can the stock lift pump stay up with the flow needed by the vp44? Am I right or wrong I;d like to know. This is a learning experiance. If you install a lift pump with a larger flow will the vp44 last?

Don't jump all over me. I would like to know-

I bet more VP's have died from low -or no- fuel pressure than from the boxes. The warantee is void if the wire is tapped. If the cover is used the wire is not tapped!!! If you have a problem put the stock cover on it and send it back as acore. Most aftermarket vendors will go easy on you.

I had a vp44 pump go out when I had the edge with juice. The pump was still under warranty. I took the old pump off and had it warrantied. I asked the guy about the wire being cut and he told me that bosch doesnt really deny warranty for that anymore. I got the bd steatlh cover for the vp44 i have know. Its a cleaner look and I think its better protection for the hot wire.

#1, The stealth cover DOES tap into the pump wire. #2, i do believe that an aftermarket lift pump with more flow will help the VP to live longer, as my stock VP lasted 30k after the wire was tapped, but i was also running a Glacier lift kit. #3, the electrics on my VP died after 194k, so not too bad i guess.
