My pacbrake has been installed for about 4 weeks now and I enjoy it very much. I was able to do it all myself. I just have one question about it though. When the brake is actually working are you supposed to be able to hear the brake itself running? I can hear air pressure at the brake itself when it is on. Is the elbow supposed to go in exactly as the stock factory one comes out? I was not able to get the pacbrake elbow to line up exactly as the factory one came out. The V-clamps seem to work on the turbo outlet side but when I went to put the second one on the elbow was a little off. Have any of you had this problem? And if so what are my options. ? I have yet to check for an exhaust leak around the clamps as I am busy working.

I just installed my Pacbrake the week before last. Also did it by myself. For me, the most challenging part was getting the elbow lined up properly. I found that it did line up evenly, but it took a bit of twisting and jiggling. Eventually, the procedure that worked for me was to:

(1) Put in brake elbow, align loosely.
(2) Put on upper V-clamp and tighten partially, so that it would keep elbow from come off, but loosely enough that the elbow could still rotate freely

(3) From beneath truck, put on lower V-clamp. Had to twist and pulled on elbow simultaneously until elbow flange and matching downstream exaust pipe matched. \

(4) Alternately pulled & twisted elbow as needed, and gradually tightened lower V-clamp, until it all matched up.

(5) tightened upper V-clamp (still from beneath truck)

When it was all done, with the V-clamps both tightened, the upper and lower flanges of the elbow both did appear flush with their respective mating surfaces.

Hope this helps somewhat. .

What else has to be installed for the 05 48re since dodge never did the software update? I understand the warranty may be kuput, but I have only 60K on my 05 and would love a pacbrake

I was told by someone that installation of a PacBrake wouldn't void your warranty.

my understanding is that there are some issues with the automatic, not the standard transmission on the 05's only. Some xmission experts can chime in.

When I installed mine I used a small jack with a block of wood under the down pipe to hold it up. Seemed to make the twisting and aligning of the elbow easier.

I had the same problem... ...

I had to loosen the down pipe from the elbow at the first clamp under the passenger door and then rotate the elbow towards the fender for the clamp to be able to grab both flared ends of the elbo, and the down pipe (if all that makes sense).

Fortunately I was installing the new Silverline Turbo back system at the same time, making it all easy to work with,
