I had a freind do the trouble code check, 3 on and 3 off for his 2001 3/4 ram. He got back ppcu, p1693, pdone, pecu, p0234, pdone. what are these codes ?

TOO much turbo boost:

P0234 (M) Turbo Boost Limit Exceeded Problem detected in turbocharger wastegate.

Has he done any recent power mods?

The reason I had him do this check is he said the truck feels a little doggy and it does not seem to be getting as good as mpg as it should. This is his first diesel and he as only put about 4000 miles on it himself.

roller1000,

Tell your friend to replace the MAP (boost) sensor. They do sometimes fail and can trigger that P0234 Diagnostic Trouble Code.

Good luck,

John L.

Thanks for the input guys! TDR rocks. any idea what the p1693 code is? With the code for over boost comming up in the computer, Will this make the truck fuel the engine differently. I would think it would. Thanks again roller1000

The 1693 is merely an alert code to indicate there is a deeper issue - some codes don't display in the familiar "3x3" ignition switch method, and the 1693 just displays there IS a code set, whether it shows on the display or not...

I got a 1693 & 1694, most of the time I don't get a light, truck runs great. yesterday got a light, these are the only codes, truck still runs great. my ecm is bad. $600 for a reman. I reset the light..... PS I boost to 36 psi. (stock is 19 to 22)

might wanna check the wastegate as well. low power and high boost could both come from a stuck (or sticky) wastgate
