What you don't want to find...

i dont know why people on here get so offened when other make fun of a truck. im sorry but something so gawdy as the truck in the first post you are gonna be made fun of by anyone. even the custom car and rod shows would laugh at that.

Ahhh yes..... I remember back when I was young enough to want a pickup that looked something like that. Thirty five years ago I thought big rigs were cool and I fixed up a 69 Chev one ton chassis cab with a flatbed and stacks. Straight pipe, of course. Really cackled, sounded pretty. Didn't have the air horns or all the lights though. Had a rebuilt 327 with 202 heads from a wrecked '65 Impala SS, engine put out stock 275 HP. Of course, back then I was young and stupid, but you should have seen the heads turn when you lit up those duals on the back and roasted them really well. Endless clouds of smoke..... yes, I bought lots of used tires, but I worked in a tire shop at the time and they were easy and inexpensive to come by. Oh to be young again!!

Granted, I've grown up (well, my tastes have grown up, but I'm still a kid at heart) and I would not "dress" a truck like the one in the original post, but you gotta give the guy credit for having the guts to drive what he likes. We might think it's ugly, but I'm sure that the guy who owns it thinks the world of it. Sooner or later he'll grow up too, and some day he'll look back and wonder why he wasted his money on all of that bolt on chrome, but he'll also smile and say "oh to be young again".

:):):)

Funny that came up - as I sit here in front of the PC, I'm wearing a T-shirt that states "Lost in the 50's", with a picture of an old jukebox and a couple of neat old custom/hotrods!

I may be old in body - but my spirit remains that of a teenager - as do many of my interests - and I built up my truck to fit MY needs, and suit MY taste - and until Obama or some other entity starts buying my trucks for me, that's the way it will STAY! Here's what mine looks like - and if some like it, great - and thanks - and for those who don't, :p

I love your truck Gary but how do you keep your egt's in check with a stock turbo and 418hp... ... assumed stock turbo by not being in your sig!!!If not stock what turbo do you have?Again, nice looking truck:)

Sounds like it set-up for towing more than racing. That is basically how I modded mine also..... with towing being more important, although it is quite fast as well.

I've been very fortunate that my various mods have worked quite well together to permit virtually unlimited power application, while maintaining an EGT less than 1150 degrees - and THAT only happens rarely in passing situations while towing the 5th wheel in the hills. Most pulls in the grades are well below 1000 degrees, cruising up the hills at the speed limit.

My turbo is still the OEM HX-35, and max boost seen is about 35 PSI or so. I tried the Smarty for a while, stacked with the Edge Comp - but the timing rattled it caused, as well as the unusable extra fuel (EGT) and excessive smoke, motivated me to sell it and return to the Comp alone - unusable power to me, is sorta pointless - and fact is, there WAS no additional power with the Smarty, as seen in dyno pulls with it's best programming on my truck.

AS it is, I'm as far as I can go power-wise with additional mods, such as twin turbos without serious engine work - O-rings, head studs, and such, and I already have all the power I can reasonably use in my specific application - so the balance I have satisfies me as it is. :)

Cheers

Appreciate the in-depth reply as I too feel the Smarty is a poor performer but the benefits it provides keeps it in my truck ... ... for now anyway. I am considering the Adrenaline but am a little apprehensive until all the bugs are worked out. I have the BD Towing twins and see boost levels in the mid 40's so I have no issues with the stock head gasket and the like. So far I am satisfied... . we'll see. Thanks again!!

I can't see the picture here on my work computer, but it seems kind of ironic that people on this site are making fun of someone for putting accessories on the truck.
