Hey i just installed a industrial injection hot rod and fass 150 kit last night and took it out and it is a turd! Ok let me go back, I have a hx50 turbo with 4'' exhaust, juice with attitue and intake. Before i changed the pump to the new onw it seemed like it had more power, now when i crank it up on 5 and hammer down, all it does is blow smoke like no other. When i had the old pump on i was getting 46 psi of boost, now i cant get above 30 psi. It only starts to get moving when your toolin down the road, but still only 30 psi boost. I cant even do a brake torque, just smokes like hell! I know it sounds like my turbo is too big but come on, its not that big. Any ideas what i need to do to get that power and the bottom end back? Thanks Bryan

Im took out the intercooler and am going to check it for leaks, rubber boots look in good condition, going to put the stock turbo back on. Is an HX 50 too big?

Did you just put the HX 50 on when you changed out the VP? Were the higher boost #'s you quoted in your original post with the stock turbo?

What other modifications do you have besides the Edge box?

Did you change the horn gasket / was it in real good shape when you had it off to do the VP? How bout the grid gasket. I'm with you on having to be a boost leak. Keep us posted.

Yea i was suspecting the horn gaskets, I only replaced one but i used a different style one that i crossed to a Komatsu part #, It was metal with like a silver coating, possibly the problem, gonna get another paper one. The keyway on the pump??? how can it it be backwards? i put it in the way it came out but used the new key. Yea i even pulled all tubes, connectors and intercooler and checked them for leaks, so its gotta be the horn gaskets. well see here in a couple days.

I'm guessing it's not the pump key, you say you used the one that came with the pump - it was already on the shaft when you got the pump yes?

Keep us posted.

BDahm, the key can be installed wrong. There's an arrow on the top of the key that needs to face towards the pump. If it's pointing the wrong way your timing's off.

Don't know if that's the problem but it is a possibility. Good luck.

Mike

ok i replaced the two gaskets, put on a pulse manifold, and the stock turbo, now shes has some power! The hx50 must have been to big!!!I must have got lucky with the key that was already on the new pump. Next the trans will grenade!Haha Thanks guys

A common mistake

Is tightening the gear nut before you make sure the key way is properly seated into the gear. It will actually shear the edge of the key way
