Have read about different TC`s on this forum, and was thinking of trying the Hughes 15XFM. But It seems it`s for the 518, and Hughes hasn`t got a converter for my 727. Or will the 15XFM be fine for the 727??
Has anyone got experience with TC`s for the 727?All threads seem to be for the 518.

I am not sure on that one. If I were you and buying a TC I would call either Dunrite, Goerends, etc, and verify they would work and ask them what they would reccomend. I am not sure the Hughes is all that great a converter for the money but not had one to compare, just heard it is not all it can be.

Talked to Suncoast earlier and their converter fit both 727, 518 and the 46. I thought I would try the Hughes before I decide if I should change the trans.

As the Hughes Can be had for $299 at Pace, which is about the same as only the core charge for some of the others.

Am considering the 46 with converter from Suncoast, but it costs $3800.

So I would like to try a converter instead before doing that.

That sounds more like the price for their tow series converters, not the XFM. Check that before buying.

The tow series are really stock junk and not geared towards a diesel. The XFM was quite a bit more expensive.

HP15XFM - SOP HD TOW is the part at Pace, is that not the right one??

Here is what I think you want:

SummitRacing.com

Here is what I think they are showing for that price:

Hughes Performance 24TOW - Hughes Performance Tow Master Series Torque Converters – SummitRacing.com

and its not what you want for a diesel.

The part numbers may be close but not with that price difference. I think Pace has something messed up on their descriptions. I would check very carefully exactly what they are referencing.

Thanks, it`s not easy to buy anything at Pace with my european VISA anyhow, so I might as well buy it from Summit where it newer has been any problem at all.
But it says that the 15XFM at summit has triple disc lockup clutch, which cannot be right?
Confusing

Here is the Hughes page that lists these converters:

Welcome to Hughes Performance! Converters Transmissions Components

The 15XFM is the 518 no-lockup designation. The 15LXFM is the lockup designation.

Summit has used the general description of the converters for all of them and just pulled it from Hughes site. Only thos eof us that actually know whats going on would catch that. :-laf The unwashed masses don't have a clue.

I would call a shop and make sure the 518 and 727 TC's will swap though. Just not sure if there is a difference and what it would be.

like said before i'm only 99% sure but wen looking at the 727 compared to the 518 the trans is the same minus the bolt on overdrive when building the trans alot is simmilar but call an experienced shop like goerends just to make sure its not worth the hassel
