Oil leaks

I got my truck back today from the shop and immediately got home and hooked to my trailer to do some testing. Old trans never failed but seemed to slip whenever out of lock-up on hard pulls. Original trans with ATS VB and TC upgrade about 25K ago..... truck has 130K. Original TC totally sucked and seemed to slip at any hint of a grade. ATS solved that with their 5-Star and VB. Was satisfied with that until just recently when I noticed slipping when loaded and pulling grades. Cked fluids and no burnt smell and fluid still was red in color but not bright red. Truck always took off after the 5-star locked but whenever un locked,it would act is if it was stalled-up all the time.

Had my Goerend trans installed and as soon as I hit the highway,I noticed a completely different ride and drive. The convertor is a MUCH tighter design and when it locks,it doesn't jam in and shake the whole truck. I was told I needed a billet shaft with my hp level, but the way my truck shifts now,I doubt I will load the drivetrain like my old set-up did. It went into gear hard and locked abruptly, but then shifted between gears as if it were installed in a family car. I love my new transmission and hope it lasts longer than my ATS set-up did. Oh... . and after doing many searches on TDR and other websites,I didn't even bother with refuting any warranty that I may or may not be entitled to. I personally didn't think the 5-star was an excellent TC. I wish i had the $200. 00 to spend to send it to them to test. I have read so many negative posts from all forums about ATS warranty issues that I chose to not even bother with it and let Dave have it as his core return. DONE!!!with it!

Thanks Mid-Atl Diesel!!

glad you're happy, I love my Goerend and yes, it makes them a totally different truck, doesn't it!!!! It's amazing

And what a helluva nice guy... . when I called the shop I wasn't even expecting to talk with Dave. Geez, the receptionist knew more about my truck than I did and answered all my questions and gave me a quote right then and there. Dave called me back to ask me some questions about what he thought I should go with and we spoke for about 40mins.

I had to wait a little longer than I intended but I think it was worth it. How long has yours been in?

Alan

mine's been 16 months and 70k miles, I got my through a Goerend approved vendor/installer here in Texas but before ordering I talked to Dave too, he spent 40 mins. with me askiing about my truck, what I'd use it for, etc. etc. and recommending what I needed

I've called him once since about an exhaust brake which the transmission will handle but my pocketbook won't, went with a turbo instead, but again, he gave me about 30 mins. of his time

you usually don't get to talk to the guy that owns the company, after watching all the threads here I have never seen anyone unhappy with a Goerend transmission, have you or anyone else? the difference they make in a truck is hard to describe until you ride in one
