I don't get it. Since you live there and are familiar with the scene could you explain?

Was the fool with the Ferd and trailer simply playing in the ocean or did he have a reason for driving and pulling his trailer through the water? Is that the only way to get to an offshore beach or island?

I wish I lived there! We camp nearby alot, It is up by San Luis Obispo. It is a sand dune OHV area right on the beach. To get to the dunes, you have drive down the beach. There is a small river that flows to the sea after it rains inland, combine that with a high tide, thats what you get. It's the only way in or out. It is not always like that, usually it is only a small stream. When it is not flowing, you can drive a 2wd there as the traffic keeps the sand road in and out packed down and prettty firm. When it is flowing like that, it's either cross it or take your toys and go home. Like I said, the tow companies love these guys.

Thanks for the explanation. I understand now that the Ferd/trailer guy could have waited until low tide or until river runoff to the ocean was abated and then driven across on dry sand or a couple inches of water. Wow, what a moron. Salt water will do his brakes, bearings, front end joints, differential, and trailer a lot of good in the coming months.

We hit the dunes about twice a month during the summer. I won't cross when it's like that. We tried to leave one time and ended up having to stay a few more days before we could get off the beach!

Every Pismo trip we make a point of hanging out at the crossing during high tide... ... ... ..... always a good show
