2000 2500 The referenced code indicates low output speed sensor over 15

mph. Any one tell me how you determine which sensor may be bad, front or rear.

Thanks Mike parker

Mike,

This trouble code likely means the transmission output speed sensor has failed. It's located on the transmission tail housing and is very easy to access and replace. You should be able to buy an inexpensive replacement at your favorite auto parts store.

If replacing the sensor doesn't solve the problem, then it could be a short, and open wire, or a bad connection... which we can help you troubleshoot later if needed.

Please let us know how things work out.

mine was in the rear end. To check the wiring, I unpluged the connector at the 2 wheel abs module (next to master cylinder). The sensor alone should be 1400 to 1600 ohms (check fsm). I had 1500 at the sensor & 1535 ohms at abs plug (going by memory). (so, 35 ohms for the wire). I had to turn & pry the old one out, it was stubborn. I think I paid $35 dodge one online.

According to Dodge diagnostic procedures, P0720 trouble code indicates the *transmission* output speed sensor has a fault... not the speedometer / rear wheel ABS speed sensor located in the rear differential housing.

Speed sensor

Thanks guys. Jon was correct it was the transmission speed sensor. Seventeen bucks for the part and 15- 20 minutes work and all is well.

Once again thanks for the help
