I looking for feedback on installing the FASS fuel pump system on a truck in cold climates. It can get dang cold here in ND and I am on the road when it is 20 or 30 below running down the interstate at 70 mph. Has anyone had issues in a situation like this gelling or otherwise?

Yes mine did, but it was my own fault. I let my truck sit one weekend when the temps were -40* wind chills and i didn't put any additives in. Other than that, I've had mine on for over 4 yrs now and that was they problem I ever had, and my truck sits outside all yr long. You'll be fine

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I've been told that you lose your fuel heater and that affects your starting in subzero temps.

That's true, but l think you'll have no problems as long as you keep the additives in when it cold. I also fillup with a 50/50 blend at times during the winter so that helps as well.

I have operated mine in temps down to -25*F without issues... the only thing I had was a bad batch of fuel once that wasn't winterized and the filter waxed. Never had an issue running in cold temps with additives.

If fuel is going to gel, it will gel in the tank and lines, the pump will be the least of your worries...

True, but when mine gelled up, it was the FASS pump and the lines that did it. I poured a whole bottle of 911 into the tank so I know that was liquid.

No pump will cure fuel that has gel'd in the lines... they can't work miracles.

Gel'd fuel is gel'd fuel...

If their is no heater at the filter or the Tank, those frame mounted systems will fail in extreme cold. I have removed filters from all makers of frame mounted system, its only time and extreme cold before they fail. Take this with a gain of salt. . its the extreme cold and frame mounted that fail. . Heck we will change 20/30 a week of the D-Max filters in extreme cold. . We tell every customer if you leave that truck outside for XXXX hrs in -20 it will gel again, either garage it or drive when temps reach above -10.

Check with Craig Hall (CHall) in Billings, MT. He runs veggie fuel like mine through a FASS, i think he has a tank heater and the heated coolant lines that can be plugged into the FASS. Dont need either down here in SC.
