Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Auto trans is hunting a gear

My auto trans is trying 2 or 3 times to lock the torque converter at about 45 mph before it finally stays locked. Whats up with that?

Also, check your battery grounds to make sure they're not corroded and are tight.

Thanks Demon... My battery terminals are corroded, so I will try that first.

I just finished the SunCoast wiring fix. Man what a difference it made in my truck. Just what does the additional grounding actually cure?

Sorry to take so long getting back to you. I only drive my truck once a week too Cody WY for groceries. 150 miles round trip with about a dozen chances for it to hunt a gear. I cleaned the battery terminals before leaving and it never hunted a single shift.



Who would have thunk it. If you ever get to Wyoming the beer is on me!!!
