just wanted those to know that as far as i can tell all the parts for our nv4500 were now coming from china and india after new venture (oem) stoped producing them. quad 4x4 won't even sell parts for these anymore because they are junk, but as of this week i think i have found a company selling the quality oem parts. actually they may be better these are cryo treated (some kind of -300 freeze and then 300 heat process) and i will be able to let all know what i think of them soon. after going through 3 complete rebuilds in less than 5000 miles i was fed up. midwest trans out of minnisota has aquired the blue prints from new venture and our now making parts and selling gear boxes. i talked with scott one of the owners and i have alot of faith that these will hold up. by the way this is the same company the 3 failed units came from and they know that the china parts weren't working so they decided to fix that problem. also wanted to let you know that they stand behind there products because the 3 that i went through they warrentied and are sending me a new designed one with no more costs and some oem oil to go in her freight included both ways. hopfully this one will hold up to my hp/tq and 18k toyhauler. sorry for the long post but hope this helps out those with recent nv4500 problems.

A good source for parts is an excellent thing. I sure do hope this pans out, and I also hope there will be parts availability for the NV5600 as well. Mine will need work at some point down the road. Keep us posted!

Man, i forgot to knock on wood when I mentioned I might need parts for the 4500. Mine stuck in third gear today. Getting a rebuilt installed. Damn the luck.

im puting a fso8406 in mine changed the gear ratio on input shaft has a . 69 over drive now and still 7 to one first, rated at 840 tourqe nv 4500 is for gas motors not cummins lol

My original NV4500 has over 180,000 miles on it with no issues. Just don't lug it and you'll be fine. I am glad to hear about the new parts supplier cause they don't last forever.

5th gear went out in mine. I purchased a rebuild from Trans Gear in Indianapolis. They have all the upgrades & a good price. For those in the midwest, you don't have to pay the shipping.

jstc i would be carefull with the parts you choose. i live in indiana and i went with the midwest trans because as far as i know they are the only ones with parts made to new venture standards or better. i went threw three of the chineses ones and had real bad luck. mabey if you don't tow it will be fine. it wasn't for me though. upgrades are only as good as the parts they use.

Thanks for the post. My '96 is needing some syncro work, and I have been hoping someone would start making quality parts again. Keep us updated.

Hey Braml,

Do you have the fso8406 in the truck yet, or is it still in the project phase? I'd like to know how it turns out!

Sorry for the hijack . . .

i finally got the gear box in but have not even had time to pick up the truck. it looked nice and came with coolers as well. yes they fit with a 4" exhaust they are 1/2 in smaller than the fass ones. looks to be a very nice unit compared to the crap i recived before. keep your fingers crossed for me. and i will update after i tow and see how she works.
