My 1999 Dodge 3500 coming to a hard stop makes the wheels shake side to side. It's got 140,000 miles on it. I've never done any front end work to it but add a steering box stabilizer. Whats up?

I can't imagine anyone describing the Death Wobble as a shimmy. But some reading on the topic will certainly educate you on the front end and steering components.

I'd check the rotors first too. Death Wobble usually starts with hitting a diagonal bump, not with hitting the brakes.

Yeah, Shimmy is not the proper word. I emailed Don Thuren of Thuren Fabrication and he said trackbar, caster, control arm and lower ball joints. It never happens when I hit something on the road.

Read up on Pirate4x4.com about the ONLY proper way to cure warped rotor shimmy on these Dodges. They say the ONLY cure it is to find a shop that uses an ON-THE-VEHICLE brake rotor lathe. Probably true.

at 140k probably due for new ones. make sure you get the premium ones if your parts store offers 2 lines.

If you were going to have them cut SRATH is correct. They must be done on the vehicle due to their design with the internal bearing
