I installed DDP injectors (stage 2-75hp increase) on my truck and now have an engine stumble at 1100 rpm. I checked over everthing thinking it was air a bad lift pump etc. Finally I gave up and drove it to the Cummins shop in Fairmont WV. They went through everything and found out that 2 injectors were not poping right. DDP overnighted 2 injectors and the truck ran better but still a stumble at 1100 rpm. #@$%! Now Cummins wants to get 4 more injectors from DDP. MY QUESTION: Has anyone else had any problems with DDPs injectors ???? My truck ran fine with the old ones and Cummins has had my truck for 21/2 days now. I don't even want to think what the bill will be !

I also am running their stage 2's and have had no problems. Every time I've talked to them on the phone, they've been more than helpful. I would give them a call, they might be able to help you out.

I called them and they did replace the 2 injectors that were not snaping right ( according to Cummins ) I called again cause cummins wanted them all replaced and wanted them to send four more to them and DDP never called anyone back. If they won't answer the second call why should I bother again.

I have met some of the guys who work there, and knowing how they are, I say you should keep talking with them.

I'd be real shocked if they did you dirty, keep us informed.

I've never met any of them personally, but like I said before, they've gone out of their way to help me out. Even if the problem I'm having has nothing to do with any of their products. It seems like a relatively small place that does a lot of business, they always seem busy. I would give them a call again.

Ok I called again today and they are probably not there and got the voice mail of Dan.
I left another message with him. My Truck has been in the shop for 3 days going on 5 and my produce which I sell at the farmers market is rotting cause of this. Monday I am going to Cummins with my old injectors and have them all tested and if I do not hear back from DDP I'll put the old ones back in and give up on performance parts. I will let you know and everyone else for that matter what transpires.

Holy cow man. From your first post I figured you put the DDP's in yourself. If not they are not hard to put in. Loosen the injector lines as they come through the valve covers. Pull injector lines off injector doing one at a time. DDP sends a lug nut that will thread on the end of the injector. Buy a piece of pipe that will slide over the injector and jam on the nut... . tighten said nut. Injector will pop out.

Using the same nut you can pull the other ones out and put your old ones in. Might take you four hours. 5 and 6 are tougher 'cause they are under the cowl.

I take it we are talking a 12 valve, as you don't have anything in your Signature line.
How many miles on the truck? How much do you haul with it? 2 or 4 wheel drive?
Were you having problems with your old injectors? Have you eliminated the fuel heater? Do you have a new overflow valve... . etc.

I wouldn't recommend "giving up on performance parts. " I was very happy with my injectors from DDP. I never even talked with them. I got them on E Bay.

Being that you're a produce guy, don't let one bad apple spoil the bunch.

Dave

I did not want to spend my time under the hood while I have other things going on around the farm. I have a 95 12 valve 4X4, automatic transmission with 202,000 miles on it,a#4 fuel plate, Suncoast tourqe convertor, 4in exaust, and some other goodies. Only used it to move all my stuff from NY to WV and pulled a dump trailor with manure to the farm for one day otherwise no heavy hauling, just trips to the market. I did not have any problems that I noticed when the old stock injectors were in, but I did have 2 friends who at 200K burn holes through pistons cause a few of their injectors went bad. I wanted bigger newer injectors cause I plan on going the DSE route with vegetable oil and I figured a ounce of prevention was worth a pound of cure. I should of left my truck alone and waited till winter to mess with this. The idle was a little low and my waste gate line was broken which cummins fixed but nothing else was wrong with the truck and everything checks out according to cummins.

I had bought a brand new set last year for mine and they were the DDP 4's. I had taken out my headgasket on my truck so while it was down I sent my 3 sets of injectors to be checked to ensure that I had zero issues with them. This was the set in the motor at the time of the failure,my modified 370's and the new DDP4's which had yet to be even installed.

When they got to pop test the DDP4's we had 3 of the 6 pop less than 220bar and they were dripping fuel at way less than than out the nozzles. Couple that fact with learning they were still a marine spray pattern and nothing more than what I already had I went back to the DDP dealer here with questions. After 2 months of trying to get answers and not having any injectors to show for it I made them refund my money and I would NEVER install a set of their injectors. They brag about the 4's not being a marine spray angle, yet they are and their customer service leaves alot to be desired. If I had bought these injectors from someone used I could understand a possible issue, but, new out of the box and they were garbage really upset me. I was glad we found the issues before we installed them into a newly sealed head and created more problems..... Andy

OOOOh, think I will hold on to my new 215's for a while. I'm running DDPII's now with no issues whatever. Guess time will tell.

Thank you Hammer, thats all the evidence I need to hear. I'm putting my old injectors back in and sending there junk back. I probably have a 1,000 dollar bill at cummins thanks to them with nothing to show for it

at 1-2k miles my DDP IIs are doing ok, i pretty much broke them in moving our salvage yard 3 miles up the road in 105* temps dragging a 24' gooseneck with my foot to the floor both ways

I think the single most upsetting part was finding out that their injectors are a marine spray pattern and not the non-marine like they advertise. I could not believe that I had 3 of them bad in a new set. Funny thing was I had 2 different injection shops test them and I was given the exact same results. Then when they were sent back to the dealer I was told I did not know what I was talking about and that "they" tested them and found no issues. Heck they even went as far to tell me that the shops which I used to check them did not know how to "properly" test them. Funny thing is the shops which I used are well known for building some of the East Coasts best pulling units, both tractor and truck. I also know of a well know puller, who is a member here on the TDR,who had one of their injectors fail and cause a meltdown of his motor. They were DDP4's and he will also not use them again.

It placed a very sour taste in my mouth and when a post was placed on another board, where they frequent,I was piled upon like I was the quarterback scrambling for my life. One would think when you spend some cash on a product you are allowed a voice to say where its a good product or a bad product. The consumers voice there was squashed and I let it go,got my money back and moved on to someone else's. Its funny to me that there are a few major companies who do not like bad press about them and they will do whatever they can to make it disappear. When you post facts and corner them their response ends up with you getting flack from the boards owner as they may be a ''sponsor" and use that to their advantage.

Hope you find the injector you want to make your combo work... ... . Andy

Andy, I agree with you about thier customer service. I had to call thoroubred diesel in KY who sold me the injectors to call them to get a response. They would not answer me direct when I called them, until thorough bred called them. Then they were trying to say it was some other issue after cummins went through the whole truck with a fine tooth coomb and pretended that cummins did not know what they were doing. It was always something else to blame except for thier injectors. I guess I'll do what you did before I put a new set in the truck and have them tested first. Thanks again Andy
Steve
What comes around goes around

What is the difference with the marine spray pattern? Does it have something to do with the bowl size difference? Also, is it a smaller or larger cone spray? I may go back to my stock 215's just for a comparison.

Just an old gasser mech trying to learn more about these engines.
