From search I have found that the early and later model G56 came with different gear ratios. Can anyone list those ratios for me please? Also, is there a visual difference or some other way to determine which is which? I see on in my future, just don't know which one.

I've found a G56 on ebay. It comes with a shifter but not the ball:confused:It has 42k. Starting bid is $1800 plus $400 core. Worth bidding on?

I would check with strand trans in FT Worth TX on a price, ask them what it is worth. If you are going to pay that munch I would see if I could get one with a warranty. If these guys on ebay are selling a used trans why do they need a core?

South Ben clutches has some neat shifter nobs. Happy biding.

My understanding is that you can buy NEW G56's from Dodge.
The LATE ratio G56 only came in 5. 9's for about 6 weeks before the model end run. Mid November '06 through December '06. I found one of those new.

I'm sure you can. I called ST today, they get $4000 for a rebuild without a core, who knows what a new one would cost from Dodge. Remember, this is to upgrade a 97 with nearly 700,000 on the clock. I'm on my way to pick it up tomorrow. It also comes with a solid flywheel, clutch and PP. Oo.

I went to Dallas today and bought the transmission. It's a good thing that the seller was throwing in the old flywheel and clutch/pp. Turns out he never really looked at it and it is a duel mass:{ Anyway, went straight to Standard Transmission in Fort Worth. One of there guys checked it out, spun it in all gears with a 1/2 inch drill and pronounced it in good shape:) Of course the SBC assy I need was out of stock, but it's not like I'll be doing the conversion tormorrow. Anyone want a slightly used duel mass flywheel, clutch and pp?
