Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Cleaned battery cables, NOW it won't turn over.

Cleaned all the battery cables and reconnected them. Engine won't turn over but for 2 - 3 seconds. My FASS seems to run after i put the key back to OFF position. Fuel gauge reads 15 psi even after i try to start it.

I did clean the two ground wires from the battery Neg. side to the fenders.



I don't know what I did to cause this.

ANY HELP ?????????

Dumb question, but have you checked the battery voltage? Maybe just coincidentally that one or both of the batteries are undercharged or weak?

Have you tried jump starting?

Blown the starter fuse,the cable may be loose in the post clamp,you could have broken the battery post internally.

Each battery is 13. 20 - 13. 44 checked independently. They are 3 years old, and the water was alittle low.

I put my 8 amp charger on each for one hour, but it only tries to start for a few seconds.

I'll have them load tested in the morning, and probably replace them both.



I checked all the fuses and relays. All good.



It is possible I broke one of the negative posts. I was on there good.

My guess is new batteries are in your future.

my truck does that when one of the batteries goes bad the other one is soon to go out as well so we just get two new ones and drop in

wal mart has a good warranty 3 years

replaced both batteries, and she fired right up... ... ... ...



Had a load tst done and Driver's side battery only had 62 amps; the pass. side battery had 126 amps.



I'm still having trouble with the trans. it wont shift out of first by itself... ... .....

Never forget that in multiple battery systems like ours, you are only as strong as your weakest battery.
