I had a Van Akken box on my 2001. 5 for several years. However,

I hate to admit this, I do not know if the box adds fuel or advances

timing or both. Does anyone know how this box operates?

If someone knows I would appreciate your input. I am trying to

sell it and the potential buyer would like to know, and now so would

I.

I had a BD Plug n Power made by VanAkken. Baught it in 2000.

I think it adds fuel and timing. I had it on my 00 dually and then put it on my 02 2500. Sold it some years ago and got a Smarty. I like the addition of throttle control on the Smarty allot better.

Call Richard at Glacier Diesel Power in Spokane, he purchased all remaining inventory when Van Akken went out of business.

Thanks for your replys, they help me out allot.

Just recently I replace the VA with a Smarty and honestly

I can not tell a difference between the VA w/BD boost

fooler combo and the SMARTY set on SW #3 with REVO

settings all on zero.

I hear you there on the VA being a smooth box. My new Smarty does have a tendency

to surge more, it is subtle but it is there. It seems to surge more at 2000 rpm and above, below that it is hardly noticeable.
