Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Connector near engine ECM

There is a connector, seemingly unoccupied, near the ECM. Is it a test connection, or was it for an option?

It is in the left foreground of the lower, detail image. Note the short, green stubs visible where wires might normally be.

Yes, it is a ECM test connection but it is also used to connect the Edge Juice with Attitude performance box to pick up the engine operating parameters. Other boxes may use the connection as well.

It would not be the easiest thing to get to for test connections... .

That is a data link connector that Cummins uses,they do not use the dlc under the dash like Dodge does. It is convenient for the aftermarket power boxes to tap in there under the hood vs all the additional work to get inside the cab.
