I have a set of heated / power tow mirrors for my 2004 2500 CDT. . I was wondering if anyone wired factory power/ heated mirrors without having the wiring from the factory? I dont have power locks/windows, so I don't have the harness to tie into. I don't care about the power part, I just want heated mirrors to melt snow and ice. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Are you certain you don't have the harness in there?

If it were me, I'd wire the mirrors in separately using an auxiliary fuseblock. A small toggle switch in a convenient spot would turn them on. Genos sells the Painless fuseblock, or you can of course make your own.

Doesn't anyone know which is the positive wire for heat part of the mirror?

On the mirror itself? It's just a resistance heater, right? In which case it doesn't matter which is the positive side. Then again, I'm no electrical engineer.

If you are asking what wires on the mirror are for the heating elements - the wires for the heating element for the left mirror should be Black/Orange and Tan/Black. The wires for the heating element for the right mirror should be Tan/Black and Black/Light Blue. Calls for a 15 amp fuse to the mirrors.

Connect positive to either of the two wires on each side and negative to the other wire on each side. For instance connect + to Black/Orange on drivers side and - to Tan/Black. Connect + to Black/Light Blue on passenger side and - to Tan/Black.

The black wires coming from the mirror does it matter which of the two wires is use as ground? One has silver square on wire is this the ground or power wire, these are Kool-Vue mirrors.

Thanks for the help

On my 2004 dodge 2500 ctd,I was wondering if I put my heated mirrors on the truck and I have the climate control with heated mirror button. Does the harness connect mirrors to the climate control or does the harness connect somewhere else? any help would be appreciated thanx

FYI... following that link that was posted, it states mirror reinforcements are needed for ALL years, and is a bit misleading... the part numbers provided are NOT for a 3rd gen.

I now have a set of 2nd gen reinforcement plates that won't work on my 3rd gen.
