Well I must be "odd man out" when it comes to KTM riders. Neither of mine is orange, and my enduro IS a 2-stroke.

Well, around here there are still quite a few 2-strokes; and things don't get "orange" unless the event is close enough to attract the folks from CO. Thanks for the compliment on the Duke.

The fellea's at Three Brothers Racing, are the ones converting it. It's taking longer than expected due to the peeps at Excel wheel manf being gone for the holiday's. They've had the dam thing since before Xmas.



I going to do the KTM for street but im thinking of converting the YZF over for closed course fun. The guys at three brothers usually go to the track, which is usually nothing more than a huge parking lot with a s*** load of parking cones.



I should probably have my head examined for this, but it's sooooooooooo fun and CLEAN. I dont even have to clean the truck when i get home

When I moved to Alaska and seeing all the old mining roads and trails all over the place,I bought my first On-Off Rd bike in '85. It was a Honda XL 600R,I had a blast running down the Hwys at triple digit speeds and riding on all the trails out to the middle of no where. It was a bit heaving trying to throw it around off road and forget about mud. It would run 90Mph in 4th gear and sunk the speedo in 5th. Got a good 8 yrs out of it without any major trouble and just beat on it all the time. Always wanted another Enduro,but all the new bikes are way too tall for my short legs. There was nothing like a big single 4 stroke!

Your bike makes me want to go out and test ride a new one. Who knows,when spring hits and the snow is gone I may just go out and get into the sport again. Nice looking bike! Keep it safe.

I can't even imagine what a new bike would cost. My old Honda was like $2800 or $2900 back then. It was expensive because it was the top of the line then.

Ya I have a Honda 250 xrl a little small can't afford the price tag of the new ones . Will have to save my nickles for a used one. Lookin' into the District 37 dual sport rides I'm 52 so perfect for me.

IS the bike pretty smooth at Hwy speeds? My old 600R single would leave you viberating for a good couple hours if any kind of road trip was made. But being a big single that's to be expected. I could almost be flat footed with both feet after 1000 miles or so and had a great seat. But even the Honda's,Yamaha's ect two or three years after my bike,I could just tip toe both feet and would have been too tall. Even the smaller CC bikes were too tall. The only bike that would have worked was the BMW,because they could have lowered the bike without fear of bottoming the suspension. Trouble was I didn't have access to the big bucks needed to move up. But the BMW was a sweet and smooth bike,although too heavy for brush bashing like I used to do. I ran my 600R till it wouldn't go anymore and sold it. Would love to find a 600,650R with the electric start to restore/rebuild. But its pretty slim pickens here in Alaska.

Lookin' into the District 37 dual sport rides I'm 52 so perfect for me.

I have run my 250 on some dual sports and its ok as long as its very little road and mostly trail or as long as the roads are dirt but on highways its no fun. Family Enduro's are a fun event also where its all off road but much more easy. I don't see any in D37 but we have em in D36.



I was looking on the D37 site and saw a Dual Euro Scrambles do you know what kind of event that is?

Would love to find a 600,650R with the electric start to restore/rebuild.

I would like to find one of those all tricked out, I would trade my Husky for the right one.

You guys are right on the price, their spendy. Where I messed up was the fact I bought the enduro instead of the SMR. When all is said and done (wheels,sprockets,chain,tires,and labor) the conversion will be over 2K. Not to mention the $1700. 00 for leathers made from Bates.



But as the folks at Bates say how much do you want to spend on road rash prevention, (No Brainer). Looks like I wont get the dam thing for a couple more weeks. The snag is the people at Excel (wheels).
