Injector Upgrade

Had a hard day of mountian pulling through Oregon and over Siskiyous. When pulling out from a stop in Redding Ca the engine bucked and there was a loud ratteling sound. The cel came on with codes 0234,0237,2146. I had the #5 injector replaced before leaving home. Any ideas what could have caused this? I guess I'll have to have a dealer check it out in Redding. I read what the codes mean, but that doesn't help me. Thanks for any ideas.

The #5 injector was bad, failed the return flow test. Dealer replaced it and it was running good. Engine still is running smooth will try it again tomorrow. I still have some passes to go over so I am quite concerned.

From those DTC's and symptoms, it almost sounds like you may have had one or more injectors malfunctioning. If it had been the P0236 and P0237 alone, I would have guessed a failing MAP sensor. But according to Dodge diagnostic procedures, that P2146 points to one of more injectors experiencing some sort of electrical fault. Could have been a problem with one or more injectors, a wiring harness problem, or the ECM.

Best of luck to you,

John L.

Problem fixed. The wiring harness going to the number 1 injector rubbed on the plate that holds my Pac Brake compressor and there was a pinhole in the insulation that allowed it to short out to the plate. Lucky to have it found. I had taken it to Crown Motors in Redding CA and they got me in right away.
