Are the 2010 Cab Chassis updated like the 2010? Or do they lag behind and remain the same as the 2009 as far as looks and features? It seems all I see for 3500, 4500 and 5500 series shows the "new" style looks for 2011. Especially the crewcab which is what I'm after here. I need a true crew cab and the 2010 "build your own" only lets me do a quad cab for 2010 cab chassis trucks.

From what I've read, the 2010 C&C are the same style as the 2009, will be short lived, and were all actually made in 2009. Prodcution is supposed to start in March of 2010 for the 2011 C&C which will be the same styling as the 2010 Ram HD.

Thanks. Not even the commercial dealer I spoke with could give me anything specific other than even if I ordered today... it might not be until November 2010 before I can take delivery from what he's been told. They can't even get HD pickups. This is the largest dealer in Indianapolis. Maybe this is what bankruptcy does. No wonder Ford did well last quarter.

yeah, distribution seems to be a major issue. A few people I have talked to in the same industry as me needed to spend money at the end of last year and ended up buying Fords because the Dodges weren't around. I got real lucky and got mine on the 31st so I can still claim it for last year.

Its pretty sad when one of only a handful of Dodge commercial dealerships in Indiana (and one of the largest consumer Chrysler/Dodge dealerships in Indiana) has no clue if any order placed now will be received before December 2010. They can't tell me anything because THEY have not been given ANY information from Chrysler. They'd love to sell me something but they are telling me to seek other brands if you need these trucks sooner rather than later. Wonder how they are going to start production in March 2010 if this dealership can't even sit down with me and do a "build/price" order since they have no data/info to build from.

The "Ram" division should be more prepared than this. If Ford's new engine isn't any better than the last two, and with GMC/Chevy out of the 4500/5500 market, this could be a great opportunity for Chrysler to increase market share.

I'm all in on this one with the following bet: Ford's 6. 7L Powerstroke will be a great engine thus making them even more powerful than they already are, and Chrysler will end up falling flat on their faces with the 4500/5500 market... if not throwing in the towel altogether to save money. Come on big money!!!

I am afraid of this. That Ford's motor will be good enough and that Dodge (RAM) will be to cautious that they will loose out big time. The best thing for us consumers is 3 stong companies with 3 compitive choices.

I don't agree with you on that. Dodge will be there, it's just going to take them more time.

Call Dave Smith in Kellogg, Idaho, may be worth a plane trip. Click here.

Even when I ordered mine from Dave Smith, they complained about a lack of communication with the Mother Ship(Dodge) and that was in '06. :{ Ram should be working on providing the dealerships with updated product information. Secondly, improving initial product quality and thirdly raising the reimbursement rates for the techs for warranty work that comes up. A little more forethought and they'll kill it.

From all indications... Ford isn't playing games with the 6. 7L Powerstroke they are building in house. No longer are they taking chances on Internationals design. Thus... even when the 6. 0L and 6. 4L IH engines were troublesome... they still outsold ALL in the 450 and 550 class. And with the recent problems of the IH engines... I'm afraid all Navistar has done is awaken a sleeping giant. Ford takes this class SERIOUSLY. Thats all you ever see on the road in this range of vehicle. And the new engine only has to be fairly decent and it'll sell. We'll see, and right soon as they should be hitting the lots next month. I had long hoped Dodge would muster up a 4500 and 5500 and they finally did. But rare are they on the road. Only certain dealers can get them, whereas any Ford dealer can order me a F550.

I don't think it matters what dealer I call. Indy's big commercial dealer can't even begin to build one on a computer. So nobody has the ability to tell me what or when or how about the 2011 design HD trucks... that are supposed to begin delivery in March. I need the full CrewCab so 2010 left overs are out of the question. And as luck would have it... the commercial 4500 and 5500's WILL have urea injection. Only the pickups won't I've found.

We'll see how good that new engine turns out for Ford, but I'm not holding my breath. Ford's never designed a diesel engine before to my knowledge.

You can't totally blame Navstar International for their PowerJoke engine failures because it was Ford that called the shots as to how they wanted the PowerJoke built. Navstar International has been around a long time and have produced some good engines in the past. They know what they're doing.

OF course thats all you saw from the segment was 450 and 550s. Because thats all there was!! Who wants to bomb around in a GM 4500 or 5500 thats twice the size of a pickup, when you can get a 450 or 550 thats the same size as a typical pickup. Common sense says your 9 times out of 10 going to go with the pickup...

And theres plenty of Dodge 4500 and 5500s running around. I see numerous a day, hauling oilfield equipment. Since theyve come out, the 450 and 550 population has dwindled dramatically...

That's simply not true in Indiana. I've yet to see one. I've seen a couple of the Sterling trucks. But absolutely no Dodges.

My work IS ordering some new trucks. The largest dealer in Indiana can't even sit down to discuss how or when I can order one, or when it would be delivered. That kinda narrows down the choice we gotta make. I definately went out of my way to do what I could to purchase Dodge 4500's with the Cummins 6. 7L. But for all intents and purposes... its impossible. And we have to buy from an Indiana dealer. Thats not an option. I'm not arguing against the Dodge. I WANTED THEM!! But... I can't get an answer from Dodge. Meanwhile Ford is telling us to just sign on the dotted line and see your trucks in 6-8 weeks.

We have a fleet of International dump trucks. The DT466 and a few DT530's seem to do very well. Once in a while they have issues. Mostly electronic in nature. A few of the late 90's single axle trucks have the T444E. The also do very well. So I know they produce some good stuff. Ford also can produce some good stuff. Together they could not. Thats all about anybody can say. If International didn't want to build a VT365 6. 0L engine that put out 325HP... then they shouldn't have agreed to. And maybe Ford should have let International design their own engine. They are both liable. It was an agreement, joint venture, LLC, partnership or whatever. Two parties. Both liable for the problem and lack of solution because NEITHER would do the right thing to cure the real issues. Only one however won in court which soured the relationship forever. Just like a real divorce. Each side has family and fans and both sides blame the other while the kids (truck owners) suffer. And nobody really cares or helps, and all they can say is ain't it a shame.

I know this is Fords first in-house Powerstroke. But I'm betting they threw all resources at it... and it will work great for them. If I'm wrong... I don't care. Cause only time will tell and nobody else can make a better guess than that either way.
