What does anyone know about the 8. 3L Cummins?

Will it fit in our trucks?

What modifcations are required?

Also, what is its name? (i. e. 6BT, ISB)

The mechanical version is a 6CT and the electronic one is ISC. Mechanical one has the same P7100 pump as 5. 9 and has HX-40 turbo. It is a few inches taller and longer. It also has a SAE bellhousing that will bolt to any medium to heavy duty trans.
I think it would be a lot more trouble than it's worth. Cummins has all the dimensions and weights on their website.

would that not be better suited for something over 1 ton versus our trucks. . that would fit good in a 6x6 lol... I can imagine that is several hundred lbs heavier. .

We can't the front ends together with the B series, a C series would break things I am afraid. :-laf

Pretty sure they did put them in some 6x6's. I think it weighs almost 200 lbs more than ours too. They are a big low rpm torque engine, that's why they put them in the bigger trucks, and larger heavy equipment.

My original plan was to stretch and beef up the frame, add some bigger axles, and a few other goodies.
Now, I think I'm going to buy a deuce and half and put our body on it.

Just a side note, the LTA10(611ci) and 855 Big Cam(855ci) series are available in many surplus military 6x6s, as well as the occasional 8. 3(505ci). What all do you want to break? LOL!!
