EZ Drain Plugs...any good?

I have been considering getting one of the EZ drain plugs. Either the "Finger Touch" or the "EZ Change". I like the finger touch but I am concerned about it sticking down to far from the pan. Also at the Finger Touch website it mentions using an extension if the plug is in recess hole. Which my 03' seems to have. That would make it stick down even more! The other EZ Change plugs looks better for not sticking down as much, but I am not sure I trust the small "O" ring at the opening. At some point that would need changing, not that this would be a problem. My other option is just to use the HD oil plug with the magnetic tip and not worry about getting oil all over me! Has anyone had experience with any of these products? Would love some feedback thanks! See you at May Madness, I am the one with the Dodge truck! Oo.

Never used the EZ, but have install many Fumoto's NOT one has every leak in 7 years of using them.

Used an EZ on my 03 for about 400k miles with no leaks or problems. Only drawback I saw was having to keep track of drain hose.

I wasn't planning on get the one with the nipple. Again as I mentioned I was more concerned that the drain was sticking out to much at the bottom. Allowing some to catch on it or damage it.

That doesn't look like a Cummins pan? I guess the fact that the fromt frame is even with the pan, leaves the Finger Touch open to whatever.

I don't have any pics for you, but I use the Fumoto drain valves on all my vehicles. Have never had an issue with any of them catching on anything in probably over a million miles combined. Have one installed since new on the '05 and it does not stick down enough to worry about anything, even though I have had the truck out in the pastures a fair amount... (it is 4X4 however).

I had a fumoto that is pictured on the right in the above post. I will be getting another very soon for this truck. I was able to do a complete service without spilling a drop, it did not leak or drip when closed either. I was a little worried about it hanging down. If I ran baja or trail drove the truck all the time I most likely would not have it.

Ez-change or femco same plug do the low profile listed from genos and take the drain hose and make a little pvc pipe carrier or keep it in your toolbox just rinse out out after use works better than stock.

I put the finger touch on my 2001 not long after I purchased new in July 2000. I don't have a 4x4 so don't know about the possible problem with catching it on somehting when wheeling. I have not had a leak problem yet.

I've got the one without the nipple. It has been flawless and I would 100% buy another. The hose clip retains the lever even if I catch a stick or something.

The Femco uses a regular copper washer to seal the plug to the pan and an oring to seal the dust cap. To drain the oil just thread off the dust cap with your fingers and thread on the drain hose. it works great. Shadrach

I am interested in installing one of these but have one concern. The Threads look like they would extend into the pan a ways and trap oil in the bottom of the pan when you drain the oil at change time. Has this been a problem?

With the Femco they have many different plugs for all applications. Make sure you get the correct one so it doesn't have too long of a threaded part. Even with the stock plug there is some oil left in the pan, and the recesses in the head and other parts of the engine. Next time you change oil wait until the oil has completely drained and then pour a litre (qt) of clean oil into the engine an see how much dirty oil comes out before you see clean oil draining. On some engines you would be amazed. Shadrach
