Please advise injector size and brand. I am looking to get 500 rwhp out of my rig. i know other upgrades are needed but i am just trying to do this right the 1st time around. I dont want to be in the business of buying and selling parts. lol This truck is a daily driver and will be upgraded to the BD twin turbo towing system. Any other ideas are welcome. I currently do not have a dyno result yet but am looking for a place to make a few pulls to see where i am at. any updates i will provide the info. If you know of a good dyno in charlotte NC area let me know!

Why do you say such a big injector. Seems like everything i read says for daily drivers no more then 100 hp injectors... Where would you get them from, i seen a place that had them for $900. Seems a little steep for injectors dont you think?

JohnBoy5,

You get what you pay for. There are plenty of "nozzles" out there and many other choices of sticks. I've had 2 sets of Machs in my truck 1. 6 and presently a set of 5s.

With present set up - well read my sig tells it all. And, I drive it to and from work daily and any and everywhere else = very drivable and reliable.

Only thing drivability wise I notice is a little bit of a chugging around 42 - 45 due to turbo size no problem though, just increase or decrease the go pedal.

I don't think you can find a better injector than the Mach series from Formula 1. You did say you want 500 hp. You will have to use large injectors to get that. Formula 1 has the clean holes & correct spray angles to burn as clean as possible in these big sizes.

Yea i did say i have a target of 500 hp at the wheels. With my programer adding 180 rwhp the super b turbo with the option to upgrade to twins and maybe getting a smarty stacked so i can back the power back down when i am just tooling around town. you dont think that 100 hp would work. I pull a trailer that can get upwards of 25k. I know thats a little much for the truck but it handles it and its not often. I really am worried about surging issues and it being un-drivable on slick roads. I am going to try and get to a dyno this friday to see where i am at with my quad chipped all the way up. Dave Goerend built the trans to handle around 600 hp with my trailer he said, so i will be able to get it all to the ground. Any guesses as to what i might see on the dyno with my current set-up? It looks like i will be getting the Formula 1 injectors based on what everyone is saying i am still a little worried as to what size to run...

Not sure what you can look to see on the dyno? At a guess given the info provided, I'd say somewhere between 325 - 370 ish? With the previous set up on my truck: Mach 1. 6 (85HP) + the Comp box (5-5 = 120HP) and the stock HX35 I ran 387 HP 760 TQ. So that was just about correct over the estimated stock 215 HP @ flywheel - 15-20% loss to the rear wheels = 180 ish + 205 (from comp and sticks) = 385. So I hit just about dead on what the parts were rated to deliver to the rear wheels. Let us know how you make out when you get done on the roller.

A bit of info on the BD sticks. I had my 1. 6s sold to help fund the 5s and was awaiting delivery of the 5s, a friend of mine let me use his BD 100s. Now they looked fairly clean and he only used them for maybe 10k miles, but after they were in my truck it idled rough, didn't have as quick throttle response and when WOT it definitely didn't have the same power as the 1. 6s. Now mine's an auto his is a stick, so he probably didn't notice the rough idle as much as I did. However, he realized something because the reason he had the BD sticks for me to use is: 1- he couldn't re-sell them and 2- he purchased Mach 4s to replace the BDs. Case closed as far as why to purchase Formula 1 sticks?

Oh by the way my buddy's truck with the set up as follows: 62/16 Non-gated turbo, studded head (pegs the boost gage 60+#), South Bend clutch, Drag Comp, Mach 4s he ran 497, it took water meth inj for him to brake into the 535 range. Now even though you and I have our trans done a stick will still put more to the pavement = less % HP from flywheel to ground loss.

Hope this helps in some way. And no I don't own stock in, or sell, Formula 1 injectors - wish I did :-laf

LOL i love the comment about owning stock in Formula 1 injectors! Very helpful info from you all. I will fill yall in on the dyno results. i plan to go friday!

Well i just found out today when I had my truck at the dealership a few weeks ago to get all the computers updated that i now have a speed limiter at 118 MPH. i never had one before why now??? I guess the smarty will be here sooner then later i cant be loosing a race to a Nissan Titan because of that. I will say it get to the 118 MPH FAST!

The BD 100 Hp injectors are nice and will probably get you to over 400 HP based on what you have now. The guys who dyno'd Will's truck (Georgia Diesel) said he probably was at 400 HP on the highway even with the fuel being made from vegetables... .

I had a reply on my post saying BD injectors dont idle well and are not as nice or good as the formula 1 injectors. What injectors does will run?

Go with the 110hp injectors from dynomite diesel. They are not badly prices and are a good product. You get 110hp injectors, a chip or programmer, intake, exhaust, and maybe a turbo upgrade you will be dang close to that kinda power.

How does you truck idle with the dynomite diesel injectors? Is it drivable as a daily driver and on slick roads? Its important to keep it as a daily driver and able to tow heavy loads. This is the first i heard of dynomite diesel, has anyone else heard of them?

It idles fine. Yes it is drivable as a daily driver. I have the edge juice with attitude with the hot unlock. It depends what I have it set at. If I have it set at the first setting which I normally run. It is great on slick roads. Dynomite diesel is great. They stand behind their product for a year as well. I am very very pleased with them.

Well i found a local guy that has the Dynomite diesel injectors in his truck and will be going for a ride in it today. its the 100 hp ones. I will let everyone know what i think later on tonight.

He has the 100 HP BD injectors. Purchased through Thoroughbred Diesel in Kentucky. Idles nice and smokes nicely under a good load too!
