That thing's beautiful!! Any chance of photos of the inside?
Exactly! I was scrolling down to post the exact same words until I saw icman95 had already asked the same question.
Those are wonderful old trailers. The one in your photo is probably worth a small fortune.
About ten years ago I saw an old abandoned Airstream in a farmer's field south of Lubbock. It had been sitting there with windows missing collecting farm dirt and rat droppings for years. I finally stopped and inquired about it.
I ended up spending two extremely hot weeks in July installing a metal barn roof on the old farmer's house (he purchased the materials) in exchange for the title to the Airstream.
It is a '66 Safari 22' single axle. It was filthy inside and out but intact and the body skin was in excellent shape. I restored a rotted wood rear compartment floor, replaced missing windows, rear compartment door, replaced all the plumbing, and rebuilt or replaced the tires, brakes, bearings, etc.
I later gave it to my daughter and son-in-law and she had the old clearcoat stripped and the skin polished by an Airstreams refinisher near Jackson Center, OH. She also had all new top quality fabrics, drapes, and carpet installed, new refrigerator, new formica counters, range, furnace, air conditioner, etc. installed. It is a showpiece now but sits in my barn collecting dust. Her husband has no interest in camping or road travel and is a busy general contractor with little time. My daughter dreams of camping again while it sits. Oh well. It is stored inside where it will last forever.
