I am interested in people who own 2010 2500/3500 mainly 4x4 and hand calcalate there mpg. Please note trans, and axle ratio. Thanks

Getting 15 avg on hwy and little lower city driving about 13. If you are running with a load it will vary depends on how much and wehre you are driving

3500 drw 6 sp manual gears 3. 73 4x4

Im thinking of trading in my 05 for a 10, and I`m -very- interested in mileage.

I currently have 4. 10 gears, and do a lot of city driving, as this is a service truck. I get 12-14mpg city and 17mpg highway (70+), always loaded at 9500lbs, no trailer.

would be buying a 6spd auto, 3. 54 or lowest gear set avail. The 6. 7 has me worried that mileage will go to shizz. make me a believer.

You will not see better mileage on 2010 vs. your 05 truck. Simple stuff to remember- the new truck is heavier, bigger engine displacement, more power/torque, way more emission restrictions. So how are you going to see better mileage on comparable 05 truck, it's just basic physics.
At least that's how I see it, but hey, I could be wrong:) Always want to hear about the amazing mileage claims of others.

Yea, I agree with you, but I`m very surprised the EPA would allow a decrease in emissions at the expense of mileage. Its kinda bass ackwards... ... but that seems to be the norm nowadays, so why should I be surprised... hmm. . lemme ponder that one.

I've been pondering getting a 2010 2500 2WD with the 3. 42 (I think that's the lowest) rear end and the manual 6. My brother just got a 4X4 2010 3500 with a manual six and 3. 73. From his comments and what I'm reading, I'd be suffering a significant drop in mileage. I'm currently getting 20 to 22 mpg highway, and 17. 5 around town with my '98 12V.

Keep in mind that the new trucks have the advantage of a deeper overdrive ratio and the 3. 42 axle. Imagine where mileage could be were that applied to an '03 or '04 vehicle.

I cant get better then 11 around town and 15 or so on the highway. Going on a 2800 mile tow next week dont think its gonna be pretty. Not happy about this mileage at all.

07. 5 2500 SLT 4x4 quad cab, auto 6sp, hd, 6. 7, cold air intake, get 17. 25 mpg no tow and towing/haul @ 10/11K get anywhere from 12. 81 to 10+ depending on route. I can get better mileage when not towing if I keep the sp down to 60/65mph but out west I do 5 above sp limit so 70 to 75 mph most of the time and still get 17. 25 hand calculated. 3. 73 diff.

15. 6 thus far, Crew cab, Long bed, SLT Big Horn, Auto, 3. 73 gears. Just getting started with this new one. Doubt that I will see the 21 - 22 I saw with my 98 12V. However, the 2010 is an awesome vehicle. Installed the 20K Reese from the old truck this week, so ready to go.

Yea don't think we will ever see mileage compared to the old 12V... I am thinking about a auto with 3. 54 dpf delete egr block off and a smarty, and if i could swing 16 in town and 18 on the highway I wouldnt be mad.

Is that going by your overhead or head calc? Plus it does not make sense higher rmps more fuel.

That is not entirely true. You have to look at the Brake Specific Fuel Consuption.

In 5th gear if the rpm is a more efficient rpm due to more or less boost and other factors, it will take less fuel. If you connect a computer and look at the Throttle Position Sensor If the percentage open is higher in 6th, that would help explain the fuel economy.

More throttle opening required to draw enough air to make the same power at a lower rpm
