How to sell an RV?

wheel torque

Thats a pretty work truck... Almost to pretty if you ask me :) Needs a little dirt on it :)

A few Q for you are the mirrors in a stock color? AKA do they come that collor or was it a modification? I assumed they were always black, but with the White they just blend in. . I assume you know they fold out, I love those mirrors and always have them up and out, Perfect when towing.

Well I think once you get a GN Trailer you will be setup perfectly.

Just as a reminder make sure you have enough registration in lbs to cover yourself don't want a ticket for something simple. I know I almost did the first time around DOL just gave me the basic lbs coverage.

David,

All the plastic items are painted gloss white. Very good job but the passenger door handle is starting to peel. If things degrade further, I will have them repainted back to black. We just took off the taillight covers, they did not look good. The body kit was going to come off once I got it home. Then I found out it was an expert install and very very well made. SO it stays until the first crack appears, then its coming off. Yeah the mirrors were put in the salute position as soon as I hooked up the work

trailer.

Its good for the highway

Are you sure? I thought only 3. 73 and 4. 10s were available.

FF; Sometimes having a low GVWR is a good thing, like when you haul for hire and don't have a CDL. Love my 10,500 rating.

I ran 1800 RPM at 70MPH, so I suppose its a 3. 42.

Harvey's cool truck

I pulled this off the archived post from March 2008. There's a trailer hauling group here in Greenville with 5 identical rigs to yours! Same flat bed body and everything. No dogs though... .

Ken

That's HB's truck? Nice looking rig!I knew he had a cab/chassis 08' but I had never seen a picture of it. No wonder he looks down on my junk all the time... ... . lmao!

A week or two later I added the Laramie chrome spears on the doors to improve the work truck look and aftermarket black running boards from fender to back of cab. The running boards are useful for entry and exit because the C&C sits up tall in the front like the 4wd pickups.

That's Gertrude, my constant companion in the foreground. She's like a politician, somehow when there's a camera out she is always in the photo.

Gertrude reminds me of the Shepherd we had growing up in FL. Ours would jump the chain link fence and run a half mile away to the SAM battery that the Army had set up on the coast. Guess he liked the soldiers and the guns. He liked to bite too, so we had to donate him to another family shortly after.

I bet you have her trained to keep pesky liberals, Furd salesman and gov't agents off the front lawn, right? :-laf

Ken

Dogs sense anger or stress in their owners and react accordingly. Gertrude would start barking angrily if a liberal started talking economics or politics in my presence. I don't think she's ever been on a Furd dealer lot.

She's seen lots of broken down Sick. Ohh Furds on the highways though and has met a couple of Sick. Ohh Furd drivers when I gave them rides to town.

Long Promised scale reading...

Here's a new scale reading from Flying J:

Front axle: 4320

Dually: 6020

Trailer: 10,520 (have about 50 gallons of water on board and an extra 300 lbs of carbon in a 55 gal drum then last time i weighed with the 03)

By itself:

Trailer tongue: 1700 (weighed at landing gear, not tongue)

Trailer rear: 10,100

Thats all for now. GOing to McElrath trailers on Monday to talk about GN and stuff...

Ken

The trailer's tongue weight is too heavy for your OEM Dodge hitch receiver but I've done the same thing and gotten away with it.

Overall, that's a safe, legal, and manageable load now with your dually. Much smarter than pulling the same load with a short bed Ram 2500.

A gooseneck will tow and handle better though.

Receiver upgrade recommendations?

I am a big fan of SouthWest Wheel, a Dallas truck and trailer parts retailer. Their prices are as good as or better than any company I've ever seen anywhere. They have a store in Lubbock that I have used for years.

SWW used to be a big dealer of Putnam products which are tough and heavy duty. I guess they don't carry the Putnam line any longer.

Valley is a very old name in the RV industry and a maker of excellent quality products.

The main thing is you want a category V rated hitch receiver. All the brands will be similar if CAT V.

Notice that it is a 2 1/2" receiver. You'll need an adapter to allow use of a standard 2" draw bar or a 2 1/2" draw bar.

When I got my new TT, it has a 1500 lb tongue weight. I had to change to a Titan class V, and also had to get a 2 1/2 inch ballmount (drawbar) to make sure I maintained the rating. Using my old 2 inch ballmount with a sleeve, would not carry the day. Just my . 02.

On edit - Harvey - you were absolutely right on your suggestion that I order my new truck with 4. 10's. I just got to Pahrump, and the trip down from Canada was just the best. I hand calculated the mileage driving around 65 mph, and then 75 mph. I found very little difference, with three tanks being in the 17. 4 mpg range. Even though I haven't normally been watching mileage (another of your suggestions), I thought people at the Madness might be interested in what I have noticed so far.

The only complaint - I wish I didn't have to remember to push the exhaust brake switch every time I start the truck. It would sure be nice if Dodge came out with a software patch to do this automatically since running with the brake is reported to enhance turbo operation (prevent sooting it up)
