G56 Poll

I just bought a 2010 with a stick and was wondering how people have been driving the G56.
I had to double clutch my first gen because the synchro's were bad for third.
I've put about 500 miles on this truck so far and haven't found a good way to shift it everyt time.
Part of has to do with the electronic throttle. If the clutch is in, the throttle is not asd responsive as with the clutch out. I have a hard to trying to RPM match when downshifting.
However, if I double lutch the engine revs a lot faster. The only problem is the drop from 6th to 5th and 5th to 4th is a very small drop, so it's hard to do quickly, but not too fast.
The point is, I want the clutch to last, but I also don't want to wear out the transmission like my last one. The previous owner let the synchro's do all of the RPM matching.

My 2008 shifts just fine with normal clutch operation. Wait maybe I do double-clutch in a lazy sort of way. Have only had it a week. . will report back. I do a lot of downshifting in order to enjoy the exhaust brake... love that sound... . !

I find with my normal shift habits that the engine revs up a lot when I push in the clutch, so I have to make a conscious decision to let off the throttle well before I push in the clutch. Other than than, I shift it like a truck, not like a sports car. In other words, a nice long smooth grandpa kind of shift instead of "wham-bang, faster than an automatic".

I almost never downshift. I always take it out of gear and coast to a stop.

Upshifts with clutch, I shift at 2k

Upshifts w/o clutch at 1700 rpm with firm/steady pressure

I've noticed and been doing the same thing.
My biggest concern is downshifting. Pulling out of gear and coasting to a stop is great unloaded, but with a load, coming down a hill, slowing down for a corner or any of a number of reasons you would have to downshift, I have a hard time RPM matching and slip the clutch. I can't quite get used to the electronic throttle.

I was messing around and found that my 08 shifts nicely without the clutch. Well the 4th to 5th shift is kinda hard to find the right spot. And it depends on the grade too. Using the grandpa slow release works just fine.

I haven't shifted without using the clutch since I broke the clutch cable on my old '57 VW.

I do downshift, but I don't try to match the RPMs. I just ease out on the clutch. I love the exhaust brake, my wife loves the sound. We'll take the travel trailer to the Rocky Mountains this summer and I bet I'm really smiling then.

I have to double clutch mostly when the truck is very cold or has been sitting for awhile. Other than that the transmission does great,it is a truck not a sports car as long as I remember that it does fine. If I get on it hard I have to think about the shift so as the rpms don't jump up to hi in between shifts. I have always had a stick shift truck would not know how to act with a auto.

Ya'll need to try an NV5600. DHull got it right; it's a truck, not a sports car. Love the manual transmission. I never would of bought a truck like this with an auto.
