I have two friends who are looking to replace their Edge with something similar. They won't go Smarty because of the gauge issue. Can someone recommend a good working programmer with a nice screen, gauges obviously and some safety features built in. Thank You

Wow that thing looks sweet. Can use the display stand alone version just for gauge display and leave my Smarty for tuning?

I have the Smarty and use the Quadzilla Commander which handles my guage chores. I love it.

I've got the Bully Dog Triple Dog Downloader. Had it for three years. No problems ever. Also have the Outlook Monitor. Can pull codes or change settings while driving. It has programmable gauge settings for the user to choose from. I think they also have a try before you buy download. At least they did when I got mine. That was enough to convince me to get it. Just my two cents. Good luck

With all the states eventually ending up with smog testing the illegal programmers being used just for gauges do not make sense

Mr. Donnelly, the TST looks like it has a very small screen for gauges. Is that the only option for a screen? Does it read all of the stock paramaters from the computer such as boost, rail pressure, etc. ? I guess i can give them a call and find out more info. Thank you

Checked into the IQ at a local diesel performance supply house (Xtreme Deisel Performance) and they told me that they are having a lot of issues with them right now. They said that 1 out of 3 are being returned and not working properly. The unit is really awesome. I think they need a month or two to work out the bugs and then it will be fine. Really sick unit though.

Gauge issue? Cause Smarty does not have a screen? The most important one I'd think to keep an eye on is EGT and no matter what other programmer you'd use you'll still have to drill and tap the manifold for the temp probe. We don't have a factory installed EGT sensor on the 5. 9's... . EGT's wont be displayed through the ODB port. Get a Smarty and the OEM SRT-10 grab handle that has a spot for a gauge.

PS: Banks is a lot of hype... Even worse, Why would you want a programmer based on Windows CE let alone these silly extras... . Like PowerPoint and E-Books???

You'll always be able to run the latest software & download new programs as they become available - making the Banks iQ the smart choice.

I have the Commander mount that is incorporated into the grab handle and it works very well. Still have to drill and tap the exhaust but the rest is a breeze to hook up. I use it for my transmission temp. , EGT, Engine temps, and boost.

Ok, first time responding to anyone, but I gotta tell everyone about my Banks IQ... so far, not impressed. Very expensive, has the capability to do a lot, however no one at Banks, that I've talked to, knows much about it. My truck now started throwing a 336 code crankshaft position sensor; it clears, but I think it is due to the IQ. I bought it for GPS (which no one again knows how to utilize) and the economy mode. My truck gets 0MPG better than it does without it.

Since the Smarty is out, then this would be my second choice. It is not a programmer, but it is a very sophisticated fueling box that has unlimited capabilities.

I have an old R37 TST which I will not give up. It does not have all the "bells and whistles" of the new TST, but it is still impressive, and comes very close to matching Smarty's performance..... it will actually peg my 60# boost gauge in an instant, Smarty will hit 60#'s, but not near as explosively.

Do not rule this one out!

Thanks for the replies. The TST has been proven on this site to be an awesome unit over and over. The iq i agree has way too many unneeded gadgets. I'll give them the info and let them decide i guess. Thanks again.

i have banks six gun tuner with power pda, the version before the iq came out. its ok, but wouldn't but it again. everyone is using smarty and happy with it.

banks is a lot of fluff. . buy a smarty and a gauge cluster.
