just replaced my injector pump on my 92 Dodge Cummins . now I cant get the truck to charge or keep a charge . had the alternator tested its fine,,,, any ideas on what to check next?

Check the harness for the crank position center. There is a plug at the top of the engine below the upper radiator hose connection that frequently gets unplugged or looses contact when you work on them.

Greg, '92 doesn't have a regulator. All done by the ECM.

My guess would be the crank sensor too. They get corroded more than come apart. Clearance on the sensor to balancer should be . 050.

My 93 work truck lost the message center function during -20F cold weather, then eventually stopped charging in warmer weather. A punctured, then a green powder corroded wire in the drivers side wiring harness close to where the inner fender grid heater towers are located had to be cut back and resoldered and shrink tubed to restore

12 volts to the ECM. Then charging, cruise control, grid heaters, and message center all resumed working like new.

Dang! Pete, I'll have to look at the '93. Thanks! Greg

The 92-93 controlled the charging internally, unless somebody bypassed it and wired in an external regulator. That happens frequently enough its hard to tell whats OE and whats not.
