Checking In
I just found a few minutes to check in on this thread.
Entries are great. Keep 'em coming.
Geno's has no intention of fighting Dieselsite on this. It would be a waste of money and time, and it would create irreparable ill will. Everyone loves to watch a train wreck (we like to say), and I'd describe this situation as a train wreck. It gives us all something to talk about other than each other (snicker).
Just to be clear, Dieselsite never told Geno's they could not use the phrase. In fact they encourage the use of the phrase. But here is the catch. They require that any time it is used in the future, "Registered Trademark of Dieselsite" must be printed below the phrase. That is simple protection of their trademark. But Geno's feels that is kind of like requiring Target to print the Walmart logo just below their name. What is legal is not always palatable.
Geno's will spend the money they could have spent fighting this on creating a new, fresh shirt. As with anything, people can get bored with the same old thing. This causes Geno's to try something different.
Keep those posts coming.
