I installed a new release of vBulletin tonight. It should be seamless since it was mostly bug fixes and a couple security fixes. I did however have to replace all of the system files and make all of the edits for our customizations so there is a possibility that I made mistakes. If you run into any bugs please report it here and I'll get to them ASAP.

Steve:

When I clicked "mark forums read" at the bottom of the page after reading all new posts, I got the following error message:

"Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error. "
<!-- / main error message -->

It wasn't fixed for me - I just tried it and got the same error message...

YUP - just tried it again, and got:

Gary - were you doing it from the drop down menu at the top? I forgot about that being up there. I'm going to have to remove it from that menu because there's no way to make it work up there now with this version. There is a mark forums read down in the footer at the bottom of each forum page - you'll have to use that one. If it wasn't up in the drop down bar let me know where it was and I'll look into it but all the other ones I can find are working for me.

YUP - I was using the drop-down at the top of the page - always convenient for me - but the lower one at bottom of page is working, so will have to change my habits... :-laf

Not sure this has anything to do with the upgrade, but I can log into the classifieds (I even deleted a post of mine), but I can't place an add... keeps telling me I'm an invalid username or password, but I'm already logged in???

Look closely at the username/password it's asking for. When you place an ad if you aren't logged into the forums there is a spot that asks for your forum username and password (to show whether you are a TDR member or not - if you are logged into the forums it won't ask you for them). If it's asking for a username and password on the post ad form and you put in the classifieds username/password it will give you that invalid username/password deal - because it's looking for the forum username and password there (and it states it there but some miss it). If that isn't the problem let me know and I'll look into it further.

I had already been in the classifieds at that time, and deleted my add... it wouldn't allow me to post a new one, and never asked me for my username... I even went as far as logging out, and logging back in without change.

This AM I got a different looking screen that asked for my username in two places... one was the classifieds, and the other was in the add to verify I was a member. The add appears to have taken this time... but I got the following at the end of the page:

Content-type: text/html
We're sorry, but the script may be down for maintenance. Please try again in a few minutes.

For debugging: Specifically, the script was not able to access /www/turbodieselregister.com/htdocs/webdata/classifieds2/temp/autonotify. lock in the Lock File Routine routine of /www/turbodieselregister.com/cgi-bin/classifieds2/classifieds. cgi at line number 1426. I've noticed a problem somewhat like Steve's - when I come to the TDR website, and select the political forums, I get the red-bordered screen and forum thread list - and the boxes for logging in - I can simply click on a thread, and enter with no problem or issue - nor do I actually have to log in. But THEN, when I mark all threads as read, all, including the political forum shows them as read - until the NEXT time I visit TDR - and while the OTHER forums are properly updated with only NEW posts or threads hi-lighted, ALL the previously hi-lighted political forum threads that HAD earlier been updated as read, are NOW back as active/unread - of course, including the few that actually ARE new...

Hope that's clear - and I wonder if it's a cookie issue on my end?

You must have fixed something Steve - at least my issue reported above seems back to normal now...

Must have been related to the "members only" areas?

Steve, it only happens with my new laptop, but every time I come to the site and try to go to the forums I get the following:

You are not logged in or you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
2. You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
3. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

I then have to log in each time. In the past I was always able to stay logged in and all I had to do was click on "view posts since last visit". When I use my computer at work, I don't have this problem, and I never did in the past.

Thanks for any help,
Dick Trombley

Forum Changes?

I must be losing my mind. What happened to the "Mark Forums Read" under the "Discussions Forums" tab?

I'd bet that if you deleted cookies, your problem would disappear, after then logging in one more time...

Didn't change anything that would have solved your problem Gary - it was most likely something on your PC with your cache and you either closed your browser or restarted and that fixed the problem.

Thanks for this steve - I'll look into it.
