:{OK. I have read all the fan clutch post for like the last 100 yrs it seems. Yes my fan ate the wire. How in the heck do you hold the pulley the clutch mounts to so I can spin this B&*^% off. I just bought this 06 back in Dec and apparently the owner was a LIAR about his maintenance history. Fortunately for me its a Cummins and can out last his lack of care. Also any one wants to know please look at mopar-wholesale.com for your parts. (search by part number) I promise you will be pleased. :{

I just changed one on an Explorer and I rented the tool at Autozone and it looks just like the tool on Genos. It costs nothing if you bring it back. The larger wrench goes on the 4 bolts that hold on the clutch. The smaller one goes on the big nut?. Make sure it is not left handed. Not sure about direction on a Cummins.

I Found this and it worked a lot easier than the half dozen other tools

I was trying to use. and it loosens the direction it rotates

OK Guys. Thanks for all the help. Autozones two sets didn't fit. Finally bought the one at NAPA. LineDog I looked at the one you pictured and could't figure out what the claw lookin tool was for. My plea for help came after using the tools. Anyway heres the story. Apparently the guy I bought the truck from knew the fan ate the wire. I found on the underside of the nut where some one had apparently tried using an air chisle to remove it. Only problem is they were tryin to turn it the wrong way. So what they did manage to accomplish was crushing the nut down on the threads. I took off the shroud, belt, and top radiator hose. Then I removed the whole mount that holds the pulley, clutch and all. Thank God for a 10mm ratcheting box end wrench. So me and my part went to the deallership 5 min away. Best experience I ever had. The service guy called up on of the techs and he and I went to his work station and went to it. I had to hold it while it was in the vise and hold the prybar between the pully bolts to keep it from spinnin. It took him about three full minutes with the air chisle to get it to break free. The service manager told him to work it out on the side. Dude only asked for ten bucks. I would have given him a hunderd if he'd of asked for it. Anyway as usual my 2 hr job took up all day, but its done and the fan finally roars. Thanks for the help guys and thank you LORD for answered prayers.
