Oil Pump Bolts Question

How many miles on auto transmission???

I am lost???? I have REVO on SW5, RP2, TQ3, Timing 4, stock HE351 with the boost reference hose crimped and can blow thru 40 psi without a problem.

The fact that you have 2 trucks limiting at 35 psi sounds like a glitch in the Smarty on thos trucks. What year is your friends truck?

How are you controlling the WG on the turbo, boost elbow?

This is the only aftermarket turbo I have driven with. When it gets up above 12-15 psi it spools pretty quick. It is slow below that, daily city driving. If I do a boosted launch all I get is tire smoke, if I floor it I have a full black eclipse of the sun. I have not towed with it yet. It will easily hit 50 psi. I have not wanted to really go much more than that, no studs.

Andy, it seems like Smaty is the only box/programmer you are using according to your sig. How are you getting 50 psi and i can't get past 35 on 2seperate trucks? I even pinched the WG hose to make sure it wasn't opening at 35 and same thing. I have a boost fooler hooked up maybe thats screwing me up?

You pretty much hit it on the head. The Special seems to rock past 1800 rpm probably more so if i could get the boost to the 45psi range. Below that it seems to be dead. I get a constant haze of smoke from my exhaust and if i get on it WOT without being at a somewhat higher rpm it looks like there is an oil tanker on fire in my bed. Not too happy about that but i guess i have to learn how to drive it a bit until i convert to the twins. ;)

Both trucks are 2006. Also the wastegate on my BD is preset to 45psi, and his HTT is preset to 50psi. Both are adjustable with a threaded rod and set nut. Our trucks with stock turbos have an electronic wastegate no boost elbow needed.

I am just as lost as you. Isn't the Smarty just a box which holds the programming for transfer, and since the program is downloaded from the net wouldn't everyone elses glitch like mine? Or does it store some info permanately even though you download and erase existing programms?

I don't know but i know that it is not my truck because we tried it on another truck and received the same result: I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER

Took off the fooler and the boost is now down to 30 psi. Just put it back and up to 35psi again. Something in the Smarty is limiting my boost.

I have a 03, so this might be much help. I have the special, 90's, boost fooler(quad), and I can get to 50 with out a problem. My truck is a 6spd as well. I run sw7, tq2, rp1, tm3. Heck maybe the smarty is demanding more fuel than your truck can supply? What's your rail pressure like?

If its the Smarty its the actual hand held controller you download into thats the issue, like I said the REVO works great on my truck so it can't be the programs. Either that or there is something totally bizzare about these 2 06's that does not take the programming correctly.

The only other thing that could be causing this is a bad MAP sensor but that would be way to coincidental on TWO trucks.

The Edge hooks up to the MAP sensor, correct? Its providing boost fooling and its overriding the programming correctly so it has to be how the tune is loading into the ECU that is messed up.

Yep the Edge does fooling and i don't think the map sensors are bad since they are working for the EdGE. I think this particular Smarty has a glitche. When i installed it on my friends truck it actually left the 800 rpm on his truck and now on mine its leaving the rpm at 750. This thing is definitely not right. I guess i am going to see if i could swap it out at the place where i purchased it, Extreme Diesel Performance in NJ but i think its going to be a problem since i bought it a few months ago. This stinks.

Take it back to them and see if they have a truck to load it on and see what happens. Maybe have them drop the correct file on the downloader.

Not sure how good your internet connection is or your computer so it could possibly be a glitch in either of those. I had the same thing happen both on a program to the truck when it would not take a program, and, it would not finish loading the file from computer onto Smarty.

Both times I ended up doing another download of the same file and going from the start again and it cured it. Flaky internet can throw glitches in the darndest places at times.

Yea i guess your right. Although when it finishes downloading it says that it has downloaded correctly. Now that i think about it this whole issue began back when i downloaded the TNT software for the first time a couple of months ago.

I don't know if this has any bearing on your particular issue, but I just learned yesterday, that if you have had TNT,TNT-R on your Smarty, do NOT try downloading any of the latest Revo softwares. You can only use older Revos, or you'll never be able to run TNT,TNT-R again.

Uh Oh!!

THAT could be a sneaky hard to find problem. :(

Wow, I only thought that was for TNT r

I'm not sure if you answered this before but. Did you use the Smarty to turn off the waste gate? If not the truck might not power past the boost levels you are seeing.

Where did U hear this?

What about the new revo and TNT are they compatable? They are both March 19th ?

I have the revo from before this release in the truck now, can I put the new tnt in there??

After that can I go 'back' to the new revo.

This doesn't make any sence, they have to be compatible

Bob W you still on here??

Update. ZI went to Extreme Diesel Performance in NJ and Kyle was kind enough to give me a brand new Smarty for my old one. I installed the Revo sw5 program. I also purchased and installed in the parking lot the TS MP8. I still cannot boost past 34 psi. This is unreal! Obviously i have another issue. I drove straight to cummins and installed a brand new Map sensor and presure relief valve. Still no change. When i get on it and i go to shift my Rpm's hang up at 3000 or wherever i am when i shift for about three seconds. My idle also keeps changing from 600 to 700 to 750 when i am stopped at a red light.

Could i have a bad APPS causing all of this. Would that stop me from boosting further? Maybe the truck is only recognizing part or three quarter throttle? I seen another thread by JJPage where he had similar issues but his railpressure was fluctuating and the truck wanted to stall. Where can i purchase A new APPs, andshould i? Please help!>!!

Just throwing this out there. Do you still have your CAT in the exhaust, could be plugging up restricting the exhaust flow.

Ok, I went back and looked. This is only true for TNT-R (so far as I know). I heard it from Bob.

If you're just running the Revo TNT, i think you're fine!

A sticking FCA will cause the erratic idle, and the RPM's to hang up when you shift.
