Diprocol gauges.... issues???

Need to order a case of oil for my truck (see below) and noticed that Amsoil has a full synthetic 15w40 CJ4 for 2007 and newer trucks. Would there be any advantage to running that in my 01? or should I just stick with the 15w40 Heavy Duty Diesel/marine (that I know works, got 40k miles on my current oil).

The CJ4 is 10. 4 TBN vs 12TBN for the HDD.

Just curious before I order.

I would say you can run either but I would stick with what you have been running. The CJ4 would just cost you a little more money. My son has a 99 and he runs the HDD.

The Amsoil CJ-4 oil is for the 2007. 5 + rigs w/ the EGR systems. This oil has lower ash/zinc/phosphorous content because these additives can plug up the cats and EGR valves.

Your truck initially utilized CI-4+ oil that contains 1200-1400 PPM zinc/phos. additive for engine lubricity. With the advent of ULSD fuels, you don't want to short change your oil's lubricity. The Amsoil HDD oil meets or exceeds CI-4+ specs, and has the higher ash/zinc/phos. content. Definitely continue using the HDD oil, or a CI-4+ oil ( very little of it around). John Deere had dino oil 50-PLUS that was CI-4+, but it has been phased out w/CH-4 oil called PLUS 50, which has lower ash content. Some dealerships still have some of the old CI-4+ oil in stock. :D
