Well just got back from a round trip vacation to phoenix AZ and then up to lake havasu up the colorado river around lake mead and over to Lake Powell and back through the mountains of colorado and back home.

9 states in 8 days.

Smarty jr on level 3 performance entire trip. followed all speed limits within 3-4 mph most times.

3620 miles total

10 fill ups with schaeffers soy shiel fuel additive every tank.

worst tank was 16. 8 don't know why it was so low.

best tank was 20. 2.

overall average came in at 19. 1 mpg which made me a happy camper.

every tank was hand calculated. temps averaged in the upper 80's to 90's most of the trip with one day at 102.

Fuel prices averaged at around 3 bucks a gallon overall. lowest was New Castle wyo at around 2. 50 and highest was around 3. 15. Prices vary as much as 40 cents from station to station right next to each other in most states except northern states.

3. 73,auto 4x4 short box. quad cab, with access bed cover. Not towing anything but had a lot of camping gear with maybe 500 lbs worth of stuff. That is with a ranch hand bumper and 3 piece stampede bug deflector, mud flaps, factory running boards spray in bed liner. ect just to give an idea of weight.

GPS showed 58. 5 mph moving average overall for the trip.

I love reports like this, makes me even happier to have a diesel Dodge!. Is your '05 stock aside from your Smarty Jr? Is 407/732 what you get with a stock motor and Jr? Just wondering.

Yep, the Key to good mileage is speed and Idle time,We are in Casper WY,and the locals around here love to Idle all the time. We took the Charger on this trip I'm impressed with the Mileage it is getting under 70mph 29/31 above drops to 24/25. My 03 Cummins empty gets 17/19 best ever 22. 5. We'll pulling my toy hauler 8/13 with speed being the biggest factor 65mph 10/13gpm, 65/70mph 10gpm, Over 70 8/10gpm.

It is stock, muffler delete pipe and smarty jr with the psm intake mod and drop in amsoil air filter with cool hose. The power numbers are with smarty jr on performace setting level 3.

I have gotten my best mileage with the Smarty jr. on level 2

I noticed I get the worst milage on level 1 economy. I usually daily drive on level 2 towing mode as it gets better milage than level one and less smokey while towing than level 3.

I will now leave it on level 3 unless doing a lot of towing.

79k on original oem BFG AT rugged trails 265/70/17. looking like I could get another 5-10k out of them before they are bald.

How were those tires on noise when you were rolling down the highway? Mine came with the the Michelins, and have replaced all of them once, and the rear tires twice. They aren't worth much in mud or wet grass, but they are very quiet rolling down the road and I attribute a fair percentage of my good fuel economy to the tires.

Noise isn't an issue but it depends on raod surface.

Nice to see ur giving Arizona your vacation dollars. Did you get asked for your papers?

Mac:cool:

I hope the 25 other states with similar laws rolling through the system do follow through and pass them into law.

I am all of 75% German and 25% dutch heritage with a touch of polish somewhere in past generations. So I wouldn't pass for a south of the boarder native. :D

That was some awesome country in the lake powell area.

Wow and at that power level too! I had a set of those and sold them when still new, I thought the traction was awful.

Nice report on the mpg's especially at that power level.

The traction in mud and snow and grass suck but they do awesome on icey roads for some reason.

My last tank was 15. 14 with my truck in signature. I am curious as to what she weighs on an average basis as I have a moderate amount of tools and things in the bed with a comercial style cap. I am currently running TNT sw3. My 03 reg cab long bed averaged around 17 mixed daily driving and much better on the freeway. That truck was mostly stock with the freespin hubs.

The 03-04 cr engines only had a 2 event injector cycle the 04. 5 and newer have a 3 event injector cycle that doesn't do our milage any good.
