I recently discovered that the water separator that FASS provides with their dual filter systems is not a water separator. It's only a 100 micron screen filter. FASS will not provide performance specs on it's ability to trap water because THERE ARE NONE.

Yet they claim the FS1023 is a water separator.

Fleetmaster (Fleetguard) is the source of this information. FASS will not address the question.

This is outright deception unless FASS can legitimately show otherwise.

I challenge FASS to come explain why it is not deception. I am one of many who have discovered the same facts... or lack of.

We all should know that water is one of the worst contaminants to effect our CR injection system. I was under the impression that paying all of that money was worth the protection.

Lets open this up to discussion and get some answers.

The FS1023 has a lower compartment where water is supposed to collect and then you can drain it out. NAPA makes a similar filter for my 4BT generator, works the same way. I never seen any water in my filters though. Hmmmm.

Fleetmaster says the only reason there is a drain is for when the engine is shut off, water might drop to the bottom. During use there is no water separation because it's not a water separator. It's a pre-filter to catch rocks.

It also goes to show how several determined TDR members are on the cutting edge of fuel filter research. Oo. Thanks guys!!!

The same is true with the AirDog f/w separator. . Its rated for 50% free and 0% emulsified water separation, at a whopping 20GPH. When AD was asked about this their response was "we haven't heard of any issues", yet I have read of several. .

I often wonder how many people attribute their injector failures to age, pressure, high hp settings? When quite possibly its from water damage from their "high performance" pumps and filters.

If the companies don't want to at least filter as good as stock they need to change the directions so that you don't remove the stock filter...

If I were building one of these kits it would be BETTER than stock, it would have filters that met the flow rating (another issue), and had a WIF sensor, and fuel heater, all that had pigtails to work of the OEM setup. .

I will throw this out there, the new FASS Platinum meets OE f/w separation specs, and is 2um at 95% (with the Racor), its just missing the WIF sensor and heater, but its a 1-14" thread pitch so there are a host of filters and heater options, with or without WIF sensor options.

If I were to run a filtered pump it would only be the FASS Platinum.

Glad I had them plumb it to my stock FF, and I will be switching to the Baldwin PF7977 filter at next FF change. Is there an upgraded water seperator that fits the FASS 150 setup, I already have the 3 micron FF, but what about the WS?

This is what I put on my Duramax back in 2002. That truck didn't have any lift pump at all. The CP3 sucked it's fuel from the tank. . through that filter. GM designed the feed lines to allow no pump. Racor R90S 2 micron

Aren't there several AD and FASS dealers that are members of the TDR???. . Hopefully we can get them to chime into this thread with some info/specs?? Maybe somebody from Geno's can contact their sales rep. and get some info?? Makes me glad I haven't purchased one yet.

Would REALLY like to have one when I install the new injector nozzles... but i'm not gonna give up filtration for a little pressure bump...

I too was looking to add a little more filtration. Glad I read this post first. Now I'll have to do more reading and research. MMMM? What now???????

Lot of info in the article there AH64. Can someone explain it all to me and what it means what so that I'll understand it better??? Thanks

Will the baldwin 1212 screw on the fass 150 in place of the water separator then use the regular fuel filter. If I read this right you will have a double fuel filter with a water separator in the 1212.
