A couple of months ago I ordered a Fleetguard filter kit from Geno's Garage. It had not yet been shipped so I called Geno's today and talked to a nice lady named Wendy. She informed me that they are not in production right now, and Fleetguard didn't know when they would be resuming. I inquired as to what the problem is and she informed me that Fleetguard had moved to Mexico. I cancelled my order. I am afraid that their quality will suffer as the the "learning curve" will be slow. I also do not approve of their moving to Mexico and putting Americans out of work. I will switch to an American-made product in the future.

Can you confirm this? I have looked on the internet and havent found anything regarding that issue yet. Must be new in the workings then? I buy fleetguard exclusively from my Cummins shop. the guys there have not said anything about FG moving to Mexico. I will keep looking and I agree with you on the lost jobs and the learning curve down there. Who knows what quality will come out of mexico?

I don't like it either, but if a foreign country is to make parts for our Cummins engines I'd rather it be Mexico than China or Turkey. Besides, maybe it will keep some illegals out of our country.

I'd be nice if for once the manufacturers would admit that they are relocating to increase corporate profits. I think most Americans would pay another buck or so to keep the business here. But what do I know?

I have found that Baldwin and Wix are both American-made and are of very good quality. Baldwin also makes Napa brand filters. I'll go with them from now on.

Fleetguard had to figure in the patriotic response of us guys not buying their products anymore once we found out. I have used Napa Gold filters up until I joined TDR then I started using FG filters. NAPA always served me well also. Will be going to them then probably.

I bet that more bussiness would stay if they did not have to put up with the enviromental rules. I'm all for savin the plannet just have some common sence about it.....

I am just about to blow my gasket with things from China and companies moving to other countries and abandoning American workers. I sent this to fleetguard as it does not appear I will be dealing with them again. It is a real shame that this country has sunk this far and the bottom is still a long way down.

I just found out you are moving filter operations from the U. S. to Mexico. I have used your filters exclusively but if you are abandoning American workers and the made in USA logo I guess I will look into Baldwin and Wix filters which I understand are still made in the USA. I am very sorry you have made this decision on your behalf and the American workers.

Probably will not hurt them one bit, but it may make me feel better. Maybe Genos will pick up the Baldwin/Wix line?

And here is Fleetguards reply

We are still a North American based company. We have been a Global manufacturer for over thirty years. We are currently shifting product lines in order to maintain price point and to provide room in our North American plants for new technologies. Don't be fooled into thinking the other companies you have listed don't make products outside the United States. We aim to continue to bring the same quality products in the future.

Thank you for using FleetMaster

Common sense would suggest that if Fleetguard finds it necessary to shift manufacturing of their filters to Mexico for whatever reason, WIX, Baldwin, and other filter companies are either already doing the same or will be shortly.

NAPA doesn't manufacture anything, they simply buy and resell products made by another company.

They aren't the working folks who have to deal with lay-offs and loss of jobs. Just because they want to "jump off the cliff" doesn't mean the rest of us agree.
