2002 Jeep Liberty Check Engine Light On

My 2002 Jeep Liberty Sport (3. 7 liter, V6) Check Engine Light is on (constant. ) It is throwing the code P1494. The vehicle is running fine, with no loss of power. Does anyone know what this code means?

OK, found what the code means "P1494 Leak Detection Pump Switch or Mechanical Fault. " But, showed this to hubby, and he said "What the $#@% is a leak detection pump?"

I can't help you with the gasser, but I can recommend you go to LOSTlibertys forum for help. Its a dedicated LIberty site, kinda like the TDR for LIbertys

There is a pump that pressurizes the air space above the fuel in the tank and lines so that it can be tested for leaks since it is a closed system- no venting to atmosphere.
