I have a 1997 and the AC compressor clutch will not engage. You can run a 12volt jumper wire to the clutch and it will engage and the ac works fine. I have checked the freon and it is fine, jumped the high pressure and low pressure switches and that doesn't work. My question is where is the thermostat located and has anyone else had this problem?

The problem is likely the PCM. The power for the clutch is routed through the PCM so the PCM can disable the A/C under 'full throttle' conditions, like climbing a hill. As if.

Jumper from battery to the PCM side of the low pressure switch. If it then works, run a new wire from the PDC to the low pressure switch connector.

This change was made to my '98 many years ago and it's worked fine since.
