2010 Cab Noise?

Reliability of new 2011 6.7 as a daily driver ....

Just got rid of my '04 Dually, got a 2010 Dually. On the way home, the "auto up" feature on drive's window doesn't work. Auto down does, auto up doesn't. Pass side works fine both ways.

Also, auto transmission shift paddle on gear lever doesn't work. I believe if I hit the "-" it should downshift and/or limit me to the gear indicated on instrument panel. If I should hit the "+" at any time, it won't necessarily shift, but the number should increase. Is that correct? If so, it's broke 'cause when I hit the "+" nothing happens. I have to shift into N then back to D. Is there an easy fix or am I taking my brand new, not even 4 hours old truck back to the dealer?

The window switch does sound like an issue.

Perhaps the shifter paddle is just a matter of learning what it is supposed to do. Don't get turned off on your beautiful new truck on the first day.

The auto up shuts itself off if something blocks it. It should reset the next time you start the truck. The shift paddle should increase and decrease the number on the dash regardless of what the transmission is doing. It doesn't actually select the gear, but limits the highest gear the transmission will shift into. Unless you approach engine redline at which point it will upshift anyway. So if the number doesn't increase and decrease with the paddle, you'll have to go back to the dealer.

Also, pushing and holding the - will downshift to the lowest gear possible without over revving the engine. Pushing and holding the + will put the transmission back in full auto D mode.

Ya -- Like said above -- Range Select isn't really a shifter at all.

It simply limits the highest gear the transmission CAN go in. So if you're cruising along at 30 mph in 4th and hit the + button to display say, 5th or 6th, it's not necessarily going to shift.

HOWEVER, if you're humming along at 45 mph in 6th and then hit the - button to go down to 5 or 4, you should downshift. If not, something is wrong.

But it's RANGE SELECT not autostick, tiptronic or steptronic. It just allows you to lower the top end of the range of possible gears the truck can select for you.

t'anks guys

Yeah, I know it doesn't necessarily shift, like I said above. But I push the plus and the number doesn't go up. I test drove one of these several months ago and played with it, I just wanted to make sure I remembered correctly. I didn't "test" every single thing on this truck yesterday like I should have when I test drove this particular truck. My fault. My blunder. And to top it all off, no owner's manual. They are going to order one for me.

Well, on another topic, how do you deactivate the "in-motion" bid'ness with the DVD/Nav?

Thanks

To disable the "in-motion" stuff, you need to unlock via third party tools. Here is one well know place that sells what's needed to it:

MYGIG LOCKPICK

Cheers.

Thanks. But someone made it sound like there is a "free" way to do it. Does anyone know? I have a Magnum with Nav, and now this truck, and I know it's a good idea to not drive and fiddle with the nav at the same time (or cell phone, or magazine, or whatever... case in point, the wench that pulled out in front of me this morning... she could have waited 4 seconds, I would have been past her, and there was NOBODY behind me... grrrrr!). BUT, there should be a way for the passenger to enter stuff. I know they have to set things up for the lowest common denominator, ie. , the dumbest dipstick out there, but there should be a way for someone a little smarter and wiser to deactivate it for the passenger. Also, it has a DVD player. I didn't get the rear entertainment. I'm not going to watch the movie going down the road, but passengers want to. what the hell?!

Here's another gripe. I had a 2008 GMC, cruise works at 25mph. My wife's DODGE Magnum, as in DODGE, did I say DODGE Magnum? works at 25 mph. Why can't they do this for the trucks? C'mon!! Who do I have to strangle? Jeeze. Okay, of my soap-opera box! LOL

Update on the shifter... When I first took it to the dealer, the tech ( and that's giving more credit than he deserves, what a tool!!!) said "it's not supposed to actually shift it, it just limits the gear it will shift to. " Um, the idiot almost said, word for word, what I told him my understanding of how it works. I told him I know how it works, how it's supposed to work, and it's not the first truck I've driven with this feature. Anyways, he wasn't listening to me and didn't find a problem. Well, the problem was, I had to push the "+" really hard to get it to do what it's supposed to do. Hard enough that my finger hurt, and I had to focus on the instrument panel to see that it worked, taking some concentration off the road.

I finally got sick of it and took it back last week. I guess another tech looked at it because they believed me this time. They ordered a new shift lever, and I got it fixed yesterday. Lightly press on the minus, numbers go down. Lightly press on the plus, numbers go up. FINALLY!
