Need help ID'ing antique differential...?

Suksuzi DR650 forks

I have a honda eu1000i generator. it starts but it wont stay running. It does not matter if the economy mode is on or off. To date i pulled off the carb fuel bowl to inspect the jet and it was not clogged. Flushed the fuel tank and filled with fresh gas. Changed the plug. Now im at a loss and suspect it is a electronic problem, probably to do with ecco setting. any suggestions anyone? thank you for your time.

yes the oil level is good as i have changed it and i am aware of the murphy switch. I did talk to a honda dealer today, i have checked everything except the spark arrestor screen. They said if its plugged up it would do that.

look at the muff and spark arrestor if it cant exhaust it wont run my yamaha started to do the same thing the arrestor was the problem. Wire mesh can be cleaned with carb cleaner or buy another

Watch for Ethanol in the Gasoline you are using - - - the Honda has some aluminum parts in the fuel system that don't like ethanol - - even if it is only a 10% solution - - you still have to start the generator about one a week and use an additive like Stabil

The spark arrestor should not clog on a 4-stroke engine. Either it is using a little oil, or the idle mixture is a little rich.

Run it at full load periodically to burn any deposits out of the engine and muffler.

Ethanol fuel and NOT running at full load on occasion can/will cause some fouling of the spark arrestor... .

Stabil now sells an Ethanol specific stabilizer that seems to help. I have just recently started using it in all my little engines around the house. Seems to be helping...

I thought the same thing the guy at the shop asked if I used Stabill? He said stabill is a good prod. to keep fuel burnable but is not good for the motor and if you read the bottle it said nothing about how good it is for the motor. He said that Stabill will make it run rich and in most cases burn off with the gas but in gen sets he said the motor is not running high enough to burn all the mix (stabill and fuel) it will turn to soot and clog the arrestor. I dont know enough about the product or the little motors to make a call. This shop has done all my small engine work for years chain saws lawnmowers weed eaters and now my gen set. He works on them every day all day. Wingate said there is an ethonal stabill might be worth looking into.

You may be able to beat the "Stabil" addiction this way. Most Honda generators combine the on/off switch with a fuel shut off valve. You may be able to move the switch toward the "off" position, which will shut off the fuel before killing the ignition. If this is possible, let the engine run until it runs out of fuel, now the carburetor will be dry until the next use.

Failing that option, it should have provisions to manually drain all fuel from the carburetor. Manually draining the carburetor is also the best option in either case.

I found some of it at the local atv/boat dealership... Ethanol doesnt seem to be very user friendly and doesnt lend itself to storage for very long. It tends to attract water, causing carburetor issues. Also seems to loose its octane quickly, causing poor performance, hard starting, and low power.

Found the bottle, its called MARINE FORMULA STABIL

I have heard also that ethanol is hard on o rings and therefore is not good for injected engines. I was'nt aware that turning off the on off also shut the fuel off. I did see the drain for the carb though. Thanks for the help.
