Check engine light stays on, reader showed waste gate?

Reset with reader and started truck, check engine light still on.

What should I look for and were, I know this is part of the turbo but not sure if I can fix it my self or need to take it to a shop. any help would be appreciated.

Glad you joined and posted but I had to be the barer of bad news but you you either have to give some more info about your truck or fill out your sig.

It would help a lot if you posted info on the rig you are driving. On the '03's and '04's the waste gate is mechanical and controlled by air pressure. I believe that it was in 2005 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that they went to an electronically controlled waste gate. Makes a big difference in helping to determine what your problem might be.

Possibly this code?

P0243 Wastegate Pressure Control PWM

Post the code # and your truck info for a little better help.

If you have an 04. 5 and newer (Build date 01-04 and newer) then its probably the WG controller pooched. You have a choice to buy a new one for around $150, or, add a WG fooler and boost elbow for around $50.

Your choice, either will work. :)

Thanks for the help, sorry about the truck info this is my first time.

The truck I am asking about is a 2006 3500 extra cab duely long bed.

I will check the fuse

Is this the little black solenoid on the turbo?

Do they happen to go "weak"? The reason I ask is that I have a fluttering turbo whistle... been there for almost 60k, and it comes and goes... usually with a restart (like something electronic resets).

How hard are they to replace?
