2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Brake pedal pressure

This has got me baffled. I just found out that my 3rd P/S pump is now leaking after replacing it 6 months ago. Not a bad leak just annoying enough. Now when I step on the brake for the first time it seems to grab, then let go & grab again. At times I hear a faint clicking noise (almost rhymic) when I come to a stop but goes away when I release the pedal & step on it again. HAs any of you ever experience this or heard of someone who has?

I have a '97 2500 with Hydroboost. At times the brake pedal will be very firm to press down. Is it a vacuum, master cylinder, or hydroboost unit issue?

'Tain't vacuum. The hydroboost is driven by the P/S pump. If the pump is not producing clean and consistent pressure, you could well see intermittent power assist for the brakes. The hydroboost charge units are also known to fail sometimes. (Not rampant failures, but a small percentage of them do fail. )
