Bought a replacement fuel transfer pump from Geno's for $179(for my '03).

My original one went out at @102,000 miles. . the replacement only lasted @ 4,000 miles junk?, looks like it is time for a FASS @ $313

Should of bought a FASS the first time

Threw a 0628 code

By any chance did the replacement pump have any warranty on it? Not sure how much time has elapsed, but it might be worth a polite phone call...

TWO concerns Faulty pump Genos will replace. . 2 contamination if 2 get checking account prepare for $$$$ departure. Install the dual bracket and be done with it. . Good luck with Fass... they fail just like any other pump...

The second pump has an in line fuel filter in addition to the Fleetguard.

Talked to Geno's before posting and told them the pump failed in @ 6,000 miles or less (actual miles was @4,000 after checking) No input from them either good or bad.

I realize there is no warrantee on the kind I bought.

The in-line is worthless. . With the dual kit we throw the in-line filter that comes with the pump in the garbage. In the winter -0* that in-line gets clogged with the MN Bio-Diesel and destroys the pump, big chunks break off and plug the pump.

That may very well be what happened to mine, but I don't think it's ever had bio-diesel in it

The new Pump has a screen at the bottom the screen gets rusted and plugs or gets clogged... at any rate MY bank account loves Fass/Airdog those pumps are powerful and will engage any bypass system or any internal certified engine combustion filter, and pump the crap into the injection system all the popular systems/filters are better then nothing ,but if you get bad fuel they will NOT stop the contamination form entering the injection system until its to late. The solution requires effort that is not popular or common (Auxiliary filtration). In our last trip form the rockies (Mid Feb) we ran into temps -20s ,So we decide to stay the night in Dickinson ND, You cold NOT find a room available in the town pass 10pm. the next day the hotel/motel parking lot had hoods open everywhere... those spin on NON-Heated filters were plugged. this included those spin on filters mounted next to engine.

TC so what you are saying is that when a FASS/Airdog fuel filter plugs that it has a bypass to allow unfiltered fuel to reach the CP3? One would think that either the filters would plug and truck would die or the fuel would bypass back to the tank. It doesn't make sense to me.

All internal combustion rated filters cannot get the certification WITHOUT BYPASS ability.

I replaced my original pump(on filter housing) with one from Genos as a precaution and kept original for emergency backup. The original had 165000miles and replacement now has 26000 miles on it.

I did not use the filter as original did not have one.

This truck has 3880hrs 191268 miles or 308000km as of last service.

My OEM pump failed at 30,000 miles and I had a Genos replacement pump in my "boonie box". A local garage had me running in 30 minutes. The replacement pump has 25K miles on it and runs at about 8 lbs and will pull down to just over 5 lbs at full throttle. I replaced the pump in the boonie box as I know its just a matter of time before the replacement might fail. I have bought alot of stuff from Genos and they were always more then fair to deal with when a problem occured. I think these pumps are like light bulbs. Some seem to last a long time and others pop in a short time.
