Coolant Flush

With all the information on a truck like the Ford 6. 0 Powerstrokes available on the internet, why would someone pay 20K for a lifted one with a auto?

With all of my co workers owning Dodges (thanks to me), and a couple of DMAX trucks im amazed.

I went ahead told him to check this out POWERSTROKEHELP. COM - The Information Source for Ford Power Stroke Diesel Owners & Mechanics and Home of EDAS® "Engine Damage Avoidance System" for Powerstroke Diesel Trucks for help when it begins to crap out. The look on his face was one of horror:eek:

I try to pass all the good info to everyone I know on all these trucks and they wont listen...

I just dont understand:rolleyes:

Furd owners are loyal regardless of the facts and evidence presented. The '04s were among the worst.

If he only uses it to commute to work and home it will probably run for awhile but a lifted truck with big tires may very well have been modified and if so and he runs it hard it is guaranteed to fail.

The truck your co-worker bought probably has an actual cash value of $8k.

Man Harvey... ...

8K????

Wow I can believe it. I mean we all have our fair share of idle time to sit around and BS about trucks, he heard all of this and still bought it:confused:.

I have a friend, die hard ory guy. Bought a 06 and was having some problems. Took it to another friends shop and while diagnosing the problem the engine ran away! Fire department showed up due to the smoke and oil spill!

He wouldn't listen to my warnings either.

Does anyone know the exact percentage of 6. 0's that made it to it's life expectancy?. If any?

Supposedly he ran the VIN on Carfax and it came back clean. The truck has over 90K on it.

Mac,

I'm no expert on valuing used trucks but I used to browse often on the Escapees forum. Escapees Discussion Forum (Powered by Invision Power Board) The escapees is intended as a member website for full time RVers. It used to be more lively but is now mostly boring, the same old questions asked by newcomers to the world of RVing and the same old wrong opinions posted by those who have been there a few months longer but the HDT and MDT forums are dominated by guys who have been using MDTs or HDTs to pull heavy full time RVs for years. They usually know what they are talking about.

A man named Wayland Long, owner of 2L Custom Trucks in Pooleville, TX Welcome to 2L CUSTOM TRUCKS - Drive It Like You Stole It! - Poolville, Texas, USA occasionally posts in the Escapees HDT/MDT forums. He is in the business of buying, selling, and trading trucks and attends truck auctions. He seems to be a genuine expert on trucks for the RV and Horse trade.

He has previously posted his experiences with taking Furd Sick. Ohh trucks in on trade for his FL or IH conversion trucks and has mentioned their actual cash value. I've never met him or talked with him but he seems to admire Furd Sick. Ohhs about as much as I do. His posts are usually entertaining when he posts.

Thers's no doubt the 6. 0 has taken a bruise on resale prices from those who know it's history, and do their homework about purchases. There are many who dont know what they are buying, or buy on the reccomendation of a firends experience, which may have well been a good one. Some will buy a brand because the last one they had like it was a good one. The real question i'am curious about, does mr. long truely practice what he preaches. In other words, does he talk down someone's trade in, and when it comes time to resale that unit, is it suddenly the best thing since sliced bread?

Interesting reading!!!!!

Interesting how many peeps have a Ford/Cummins. Looks like allot of the employees at the Cummins engine plant in Columbus Ind have Fords with Cummins engines in them.

How come we never hear about a Dodge owner with a PowerJoke in it. It's always about a Furd or a GM with a Cummins in it. That ought to tell a would be Ford PowerJoke buyer something.

This country is full of Ford die hard owners. My brother-in-law's one of them, having owned several Fords and they have all been miserable.

I wouldn't be surprised. I had a job done in his shop, and from the results, I paid in full for another shop to competely re-do his work.

I guess you could call him and ask him that question if you really want his answer.

I believe he simply takes them on trade at what they are actually worth to help his buyers and sends them to the auctions around the DFW area where "sold with no warranty real or implied" and "buyer beware" are the guiding principles.

I would imagine Furd execs would rather give away free trucks than have the overall figures on Sick. Ohh failures released to the general public.

I know that thousands of them were bought back by Furd under Lemon Laws, repaired(?), and shoved back into the market via Furd dealers as used trucks.

Furd didn't file federal lawsuits against Navistar because of the great reliability and resale value of Navistar's Sick. Ohh engines and ultimately terminate a long running business relationship because they were great engines.

Back in 2005 and 2006 when I was transporting I talked with fellow transporters that were driving their second and third new Furd Sick. Ohh. The only way the poor guys could get out from under the first one when the engine failed after warranty expiration was to trade it back to a Furd dealer for another one then even a third one when the second one died.

It is my opinion that all Sick. Ohhs used in commericial duty applications towing trailers and running lots of miles failed.

I was on my way to the airport a couple weeks ago. On the freeway coming towards me was something putting out a huge cloud of smoke. I figured it must be a steam engine that lost it's way. Nope, it was a late model Super Duty trying to make it home before the engine blew. Will these guys ever learn?

yea. . my neighbor just bought a 6. 0 04 f250 harly Davidson. it was stolen and sat in a shop hidden for about 4 yrs.

$19K!!!!!! i think 70K miles, fair shape, 4 Dr

um, i think he got screwed!!

Ford did file a law suit against Navistar to recoup warranty costs. When Ford ended it's relationship with Nav. prematurely, they counter sued for breech of contract. It's probably still bouncing around the courts.

I was on vacation with a Navistar dealer two years ago. He volunteered his shop to do warranty work on the pickups diesels. Ford would have no part of it. I'm sure they were concerned about damage control.

I live in the DC Metro area. I find it interesting that a lot of illegals drive these trucks now, probably due to the fact that they can be purchased so cheaply. These guys think they are getting a deal on a very 'nice' truck and you see them comfortably sitting behind the wheel and thinking that America is the best. I love seeing the 6. 0's blowing smoke and stinking up the Interstates.

But conversely, I have several friends that run these sick. 0's with pretty good luck... ... although they spent considerable money into upgrades and such to make them more reliable. Even with the upgrades, they still cannot render the mileage that our trucks get!!

Could it be Some may look at the other side of the coin and say it should tell dodge owners something?

Boy that sure seems like a sure fire way to loose money to me. . Offer trade in value on any vehicle, and then take it to an auction to sell it. . Maybe auto auction prices have really turned around in the last year or so since i quit going to them. .
