2011 4500 Class IV/V Hitch??

850 mile round trip....

I have a tall sloped canopy on my 03 long box. Can anyone show me some pictures of a rack for the top of it to carry my canoe? TIA Shadrach

We've carried a lot of kayaks and canoes on the top of the truck, we use Yakima Racks by the way.

I recommend using very good straps, I've put a link to Northwest River Supplies strap page. These are good quality straps and they won't stretch or slip. The strap buckles are very good quality.

Here is a picture of my truck with the canopy on it. Anyone have a picture of something similar with a canoe on top ? Shadrach

Do you mean something like this? I installed small sections of "rain gutter" for the rack to clamp on to. There is a little more clearance between the cab and the canoe tip that appears, but not much.

That's what I'm looking for. Thanks. I also see how you got around the front bug deflector. I guess you would have to be careful you didn't let the front of the canoe down to hard or you might dent the roof. Shadrach

The ratchet straps did the majority of the hold down work. the rope in front was just for peace of mind. I could have turned the canoe over for more clearance if I was that worried, or purchased taller towers in the first place for a better fit overall. Either way, not a big deal.
