I'm looking for help finding parts. I bought a pair of these steps 9 years ago from Geno's Garage. They have worked flawlessly and I've been very happy with them. My driver's side step quit working and the problem is down to the controller inside the step housing. It powers the step motor to go in two different directions. I haven't been able to get a hold of the company though phone calls ( busy signal ) and e-mail. On their web site is a notice that they are temporarily suspending manufacture of the steps, because they are in the process of redesign. That was 2009 and I think they have gone out of business. Does anyone have any ideas on where to get a replacement controller ? I would also be interested in buying a used pair of steps for spare parts if anybody knows someone that has an old set. Geno's and 4 Wheel Parts both said they haven't dealt with that company for several years. I guess the AMP steps on the newer trucks pretty much took over. Anyways, any help would be appreciated. Regards, Mike.

seafish, Thank you for finding this for me. I'll e-mail this guy to see if he could help me. I checked e-bay a couple days ago and there was a guy selling a set of 4. I e-mailed him to see if he would break up the set and sell me one pair and he would not. I have a quad-cab but it is just me and the wife now and I don't need or want steps for the rear half doors. Regards, Mike.

I pulled my step housing a part last night and my initial thinking was the controller. The first rule I learned when I started wrenching was "don't start off with any preconceived ideas" and I didn't follow my own rules. When I pulled the cover off and tested the voltage out of the controller, it was sending power to one wire to the motor when the door was opened and then it reversed and sent power to the other wire to the motor when the door was closed. I checked the motor grounding real quick and it was fine. The motor is bad. I sent the guy on ebay above an e-mail and gave him my AM motor part number and he couldn't tell me if he had the right motors or not. So I searched AM replacement parts and found this company: (Sorry, I don't know how to save this as a direct link. )

store. amequipment.com

They were the original suppliers of the AM motors to Kodiak and Kwikee electric steps. I ordered the exact part number 210-1011 for my driver's side step for $39. 95. seafish, I do appreciate your help, if anything you got me more motivated to find the part I needed and get my step fixed. Regards, Mike.

Glad I could help out in some way...

I am going to be installing the AMP Powersteps I got from Genos last year pretty soon, but those Kodiaks look nice too. It wold be silly to lose them just for a $40 motor.

Seafish, My buddy has the AMP power-steps on his 2003 4 door F350 and it is real nice to have the step all the way across for front & rear passengers. I think you'll be real happy with them on you 3rd Gen. truck. I called AMP power-step (Bestop), to ask if they were going to make them for the older trucks, like my 2002 Quad-cab, and they said they had no plans to do that, which I can understand. Anyways, I do like my Kodiak steps and now with a motor on the way, I should be good to go. Regards, Mike.

UPS delivered my driver's side Kodiak step motor, from AM Equipment in Oregon, last Monday. I installed it and it is working great. I should hopefully be good for another 9 years. AM Equipment was great to deal with. They sent me an order notification, UPS pick-up and tracking info, estimated delivery, and it showed up on time. I'm a happy camper again. Regards, Mike.

I have a pair if you're still looking.

Do they work or just for parts? I have a pair also and my motors are bad. I took them off years ago when they quit working. I think my then 4 year old son damaged it when he tried to step on it when it was in the up position. I may have to check out the company listed above. I always thought they were some kind of window motor.

BigPapa,
If you go to: http://store.amequipment.com/ and then scroll down the left column, you'll see a tab for Kodiak step replacement motors, they are $70.76 each now. They were $40 when I bought them. Make sure you order the correct motor, they are different for driver's side & passenger side.
Regards, Mike
